Attempting to tire out youngest so she'd go to bed, we've been leaping round the kitchen and washing up to Nirvana, the Dandy Warhols, The The, and Prince.....now OH is snoozing in front of the telly, daughter's fast asleep in bed and I've got a couple of hours to myself. Result! (But, hell's bells, I'm knackered...).

Currently listening to Jack Johnson's "In Between Dreams".
Also currently very fond of Coldplay's "X & Y", Green Day's "American Idiot" and Keane's "Under The Iron Sea".

S'funny thing - very few people admit to liking Coldplay but they sell trillions of cd's! There's a little track off Yellow (I think) which says "we live in a beautiful world..." It's my "driving in my car, all alone, in the sunshine amd singing happily to myself" record - that and track 10, cd 1 on Best of Santana - off "Caravanserai" originally, wondrous piece of music. (Don't babble Data.....)

Unfortunately I'm not listening to any music at the moment, but I can hear CBeebies which LP is watching. I've got Alice Cooper lined up for later - I haven't listened to that for ages coz I don't think it's appropriate for LP!!!!

Hia Gertrude! I had a lovely holiday thank you. Funny how the weather is better here in Blighty though I think I'm going to have to start learning new names for people who've changed them from their Beeb names that I've got used to!!!!! I feel like the new girl at school!

Hiya Plockett
I think most folks have kept their Beeb names except for Daisy Chain aka Shesinthegarden. Glad you've joined us btw. The weather has only just cheered up here, it's been pretty wet and miserable while you've been away - good job we have the boards to keep us busy!! ;D

That explains why the garden looked overgrown when we got back!!! The grass must have been nearly 1ft high in places - gulp! We've cut it once but it needs doing again, so guess what I'll be doing this afternoon if it stays dry???
At least I'll recognise names, and I could hardly forget yours Piggin!!!

I play the electronic organ (no smutty remarks please!!) and I love playing Bach on there. Well, I love TRYING to play Bach anyway! Beautiful music... when it's played properly of course.
Anyway, I'm listening to my boyf swearing at the TV because the Sky keeps playing up... <sigh>

I like a big mixture of stuff, I like classical, U2, van morrison, sugar babes, I used to love Depeche Mode, Wham and my absolute favourite was Eurythmics - (Annie Lennox is fabulous) as a teenager We listened to an album which was called buddha something yesterday, that was fantastic, I love Eva Cassidy too. However, I can't stand Slade, heavy metal and rock Kirsty McColl, I can only think of the christmas song she did with someone else and when I hear her mentioned it always makes me think of her tragic death

Sounds good - I'll listen to pretty much anything really!
I know what you mean about Kirsty McColl's death, but she sang some fantastic stuff. The Fairytale of New York was the Christmas song, sung with The Pogues.

I don't get the Scissor Sisters I'm afraid. I'd rather stick rusty pins in my eyes than listen to them. Perhaps someone could explain their appeal.

Music is an extremely personal thing, I cannot enjoy stuff other people tell me is fabulous, so I would not try and present any material as wonderful.

Sorry Derek - I wasn't criticising you for listening to them, just making a comment that I didn't like them.
Nothing personal, and I hope no offence caused as there was definitely none intended.

I knew your comments were not personal, and I certainly took no offence. Long ago, when performing classical guitar pieces at local folk clubs and festivals, I realised that people's perceptions of music are extremely personal. Once I recognised that, I no longer felt rebuffed when I overheard comments about my music not being 'acceptable' or 'suitable' in a folk environment. These comments were inevitably made by people who felt threatened by me, and they tried to protect the folk atmosphere that they enjoyed. Equally, there are many bands and styles which I dislike, however I won't mention them for risk of starting a riot ...

I love Rock 'n' Roll. Generally a very eclectic taste in music, but with R&R at the top:
Favourite artists:
Buddy Holly - a genius Rolling Stones - early stuff The Beatles - of course! Van Morrison Led Zepplin Dr Hook Joni Mitchell Django Reinhardt Eric Clapton Black Sabbath - esp. the Paranoid album Roxy Music - esp. Virginia Plain played VERY loud The Andrew Sisters - I know, but I think they're great T-Rex
And of course there are many many more...
