The wind was more like a gale here - and we had several short sharp showers, although th afternoon was sunny. It was very chilly. I suspect today will be even worse, as the clouds look heavy and the wind hasn't dropped.

I'm not surprised - the farmers over here are in a real state, and food prices are bound to go up.
It was a 'orrible day yesterday, banks of black clouds kept coming over and it was difficult not to get wet. It was also VERY windy and I have stray flower pots all over the place. It was more like November than May.
Today looks much better - the sun's out and there's a breeze rather than wind.

It dropped to zero again last night, there is one very unhappy ricinus with shrivelled leaves this morning. The temp was up to 15c by 8am though, looks set to be quite hot!

We had a lovely sunny day, but the breeze stopped it being 'warm'. The day has dawned with clear skies, but the forecast was for rain today - I think by mid-morning. The garden needs it, certainly!

Still terrible here and flood warnings started goign out yesterday - up to 90l/m2 are coming down, thankfully not in our area but close by...the poor people. The firebrigade have been distributing sand sacks since yesterday..

How awful for the people affected RF - rain is due here later this afternoon and we now need it as the garden has dried out with the strong winds.
Dropped to zero again last night, sunny start with a very gusty wind making it feel quite chilly. Clouding over now and still blustery.

That's dreadful Rosefriend I don't know how they cope. We've had a couple of days that turned out really lovely despite the forecast for rain. We've made up for it overnight and today 'tho with very heavy showers and it's cold when the skies are black. The poor plants don't know what to do with themselves.

The firebrigade have been distributing sand sacks since yesterday.. RF Oh, I do feel for them! It was a fine day here until mid-afternoon when it started raining. It was damp out there this morning, but I don't know how much rain we actually had. I'll check the water butt later. It's a grey day today.

Yesterday was bad for a lot of people - worst hit was a place that had 107l/m2 of rain and the streets and houses are knee height under water - one village is cut off totally. Today is to be nice more or less all over and then back to torrential rain for the rest of the week - the people that haven't been hit maybe hit this time...awful!!
Off in the garden today to make the most of it all.

It's dreadful to hear that Rosefriend . We had thunder and lightening and hailstones with torrential rain yesterday evening, after it raining most of the day. Today the sky is blue and the sun is out and all being well I'll get some planting done but I do need to go to the shop as well.

That's terrible Rosefriend. Yesterday I fell asleep in the sunshine, today you'd need a snorkel in the garden. The Co-op car park was already under water - the shop floods very easily if there's a lot of rain.

It's damp here, but not heavy rain, hardly any water has been added to the butts yet. At least the temperature didn't drop below 5c, doubt it will get into double figures today.

Very dull, 14degC and rain to come yet again...interesting point on the radio this morning when they said that it wasn't to get warmer for a while was that the swallows and house martins (haven't seen a single one yet) are breeding and the young will die if there are not more insects around and for that it has to 5 degC warmer....not only for the insects!!

Springwatch on telly last night showed graphs of the swallow and house martins usual arrival dates and what has been witnessed so far this year. The swallows arrived a little later than normal but they reckon they have returned in the same number as previous year. The house martin graphs showed a different tale, arriving later and not in the same numbers as would usually arrive.
Temps stayed up last night so it was a balmy 10c first thing! Grey, damp with intermittent showers so far.

That's very sad Rosefriend I've seen some swallows or swifts, they were making a fair bit of noise chattering away. Somehow missed your post Tig I'd forgotten about springwatch. One of the girls on the allotment committie works for RSPB or something and they're talking about setting up some boxes around where the trees are at the allotment, they're also talking about putting up several swift boxes around the area.

On the BBC news last night, they said that officially, spring is over today, and it was the coldest spring since 1952! No wonder all my plants are so far behind.
Yesterday was a mild day with a few odd spots of rain about, but nothing significant.
Today looks promising.
