We've got the sunshine this morning Ladygardener, and it's 15c already! Had a quick walk down the garden and everything I planted yesterday looks fine

It stayed cloudy with the odd shower yesterday, perfect weather for planting out. This morning it's pretty cool, about 5c similar forecast today.

We had a smashing day yesterday - I had the roof off the car for the first time this year! It was 20 degrees and wall-to-wall sunshine. Today the clouds were here, but it's perked up since then and looks promising again.

Went quite cool overnight (4c) but started bright and sunny with a stiff breeze that just has a cold edge to it. I've pegged the washing out and a lot of clouds have appeared

Lovely day apart from the wind. Today looks good, too, and the wind has dropped.

Oh dear Rosefriend that's awful. I hope it soon warms and dries up for you. It's a dull start here but there's no rain forecast so I don't mind. Perfect conditions for planting out.

Bright sunny start here, the wind is still a tad cool but not as strong as yesterday. Temperature did drop to 5c overnight but the newly planted out colocasias are OK so far

Lovely day but heating is back on as we are going down to 6degC - just had a "Extra" programme as in Passau (Bavaria) it looks as though they will start evacuating soon ( the next few hours will tell) and once again people will lose their homes - others areas as well but that is the worst at the moment...
It is so awful to see people crying - the same people that lost everything in 2002..no insurance will help of course..
Some have just finished paying off new furniture...I could cry myself...perhaps we should really be thankful for small mercies!!

I really sympathise, 'empathise' is a better word, Rosefriend. Being flooded is a dreadful traumatic experience. We're v.v.v. lucky here atm, with lovely weather. The sun's out again this morning.

There's been nothing on the news here although I might have missed it. It must be truely awful for everyone. Cloudy again here today but it's not cold and not raining and not much wind so I'm not complaining. It was the same yesterday.

Last time a JCB that was trying to dam up a street was tossed around like a matchstick - no wonder that the people are frightened. RF

There are special news programmes all the time about the flooding - Passau is the worst. Last time the water was 10metres over normal - they are now expecting 12m - the highest water level since 1501. Last time people died - not to mention the material loss. At the moment it looks like this.. RF

That is dreadful RF! Wonder why the news here hasn't picked up on it? Weather related news is always of interest to the British Will they get Government aid do you think? It's wall to wall sunshine here and the wind is light and not too cool today. No rain forecast all week.

Weather related news is always of interest to the British Will they get Government aid do you think? It's wall to wall sunshine here and the wind is light and not too cool today. No rain forecast all week. No aid, nuffin - that's what makes it so sad. Passau and some other areas are known as high water areas and they haven't any insurance - no insurance company will take anyone on there and IF then no-one can pay. Normally the rivers etc can burst their banks but it is stopped with sandsacks etc - no real damage but in 2002 and yet again now there is soo much rain that nothing stops it... Last time there were deaths and the lunchtime news shows that in different places the ground floor is under water - a man saved for 15 years to buy a little shop and everything in under water to the ceiling. There are people that are lucky enough to live on the 1st floor but they are now in danger as well. One dam has already broken and another is in danger even though they are trying to let water off - trouble is there isn't anywhere for the water to go - there are floods all over. Once again people are losing everything - soldiers and every help possible have been brought in and are working 24 hours a day but it looks as though some areas will be lost. Of course people are being evacuated but some won't go which doesn't help and then the Police have to be brought in etc etc. one woman didn't believe that it was so deep and cycled across an area and disappeared - they found her dead.. People can't even sell their houses - nobody will buy them... It is heartbreaking - we saw the 2002 mess afterwards and the mozzies and stench was awful and this time the floods are worse. RF

It has been on the news a bit, but we'd have had it wall to wall had it been in the USA What an absolutely appalling state of affairs for those poor people Don't like to say but it has been 22c and wall to wall sunshine here...but the floods in December are never far from our thoughts.

What an awful state of affairs Rosefriend those poor people must feel desolate. Where on earth would you even begin, no help and no insurance, it would be a real hardship for people. Still cloudy and heavy here today, it's felt like thunder is in the air.

Pictures of the flooding in Passau were in the Newspaper this morning
Bright blue, cloudless skies here this morning. Temperature dropped again to 4c but by 8am it was 15c. There is still a nip in the breeze, but it is keeping the air temperature down which is a good thing for me, just want to doze if it gets too hot.

Wonderful weather for us this week, the rain has finally stopped but more terribly flooding is going to take place in Lower Saxony where we live - the Elbe is going to burst it's bank in place apparently.
The mayor of one town has said that if it is as bad as the prognosis then it is a case of gets out whilst you can, everyman for themselves. Can't say that I find it a great help - what about the young and elderly...
No doubt it is going to be very very bad..thankfully we are not near any of the rivers in danger..yet!!

You are never very far from our thoughts, Rosefriend, especially mine... Thanks Geranium - it is so sad to watch houses flooded up to the first floor and more - no water, no electricity , no phones, not even mobile nets are available but it is now on the way here also from the Czech Republic - all rivers colliding together - those poor poor people..9 dead already with more to come I bet. Dreadful - unbelievable. Unfortunately, it was like that here last November, as you know. I'm not sure how many people died, but there are plenty of folk still unable to move back in their houses, Rosefriend. I read that some of the houses will have to be demolished. I feel embarrassed that 'our' flood was mild in comparison, even though it was a horrible experience.

Nature is a hard master Geranium and don't feel embarrassed that your flooding was mild, any flooding is terrible, whether it be 6 inches ot 6 feet. Again people are now helping each other but once it is all over it will no doubt go back to "I'm alright Jack"!! RF
