Of course. The pearly gates of The Allotment of St Buddleia of the Netherlands

Marvellous idea Dutchy - do you think we ought to have a Wurst stand and somewhere where people can get something to drink........they might be waiting a long time.......mmmmh how much do you think we ought to charge.....so many things to consider really.......
Oh yes and we need some wire around the "miracle" itself - people will try and pinch bits........a Buddleia growing out of a stone, and a seedling at that.....AND it was decapitated at the beginning....well it is virtually unknown in this part of the world...............takes me all my time to keep the big ones alive......

;D Defenitely a Bratwurst mit Lager stand, we are talking top posh allotment. And a Tea and scones one. ( loo will cost you a Euro) As I am still cutting down the blasted conifers I could use the remains of those to build something like a shrine around it. Not to close, don't want people to see all, in case it does die and I need to replant a stand in ;D

Good idea about using the conifers to be a "shrine", and I like the idea of a Bratwurst and Lager Stand.....only thing that is bothering me is that..........mmmmmh well if our "miracle" dies where do we get another from..............do you think they would notice the difference if we went to the GC and got one.....as long as we take the price tag off....
One thing I do know is that we will never get another one growing............miracles don't happen very often, - do they??

Oh, I can just see it! You could sell little plastic St. Buddleias - make a fortune ... and propagate a new line of weeping (St.) Buddleias .... oooh, the possibilities are endless ;D

Ok, buddfans - here's a funny old thing: RF sent me two bunches of cuttings a while back, some from a red, some blue. They arrived in good nick, I put them in a single line around the edge of a large pot, the two groups clearly marked, and with another large pot standing in the middle to keep pheasants off.
All but one of the reds has failed, and that isn't looking too good. All blues are rooted.
Has anyone ever noticed red varieties being particularly 'difficult' over here?
We're so used to Dutchy and RF's 'Continental Budd Problem' and the comtempt ease with which we can treat them here, it's something of a shock to have a failure...

'Traveling Camera' meets 'Buddleia' in a new thread maybe called 'The Traveling Buddleia' Kerbside, traffic island, Norwich. OM. They are very common rooted into walls at the side of railways, cracks in paving and driveways, and of course, on any area left abandoned like demolition sites. I even had one in the chimney stack once!!

Quite common in neglected thatch roofs and guttering around here. I've also noticed that where they have used those metal cages to shore up the sides of motorway cuts, they are starting to take over on them too! A lovely sight on an otherwise ugly blot!

Noo we would not want to really hurt him. But as he seems to like being spanked we might have to think of something else to bring him to his senses. That or simply give up and go for underbreath mumbling. Mind you that can wear a person down too ;D Er the idea of a traveling Buddleia thread is not too bad is it? We could maybe find out why they do so well in the UK and so lousy in caring surroundings like our gardens. Even when we do spank the plants and treat them mean.... Having said that.... St Buddleia is still doing fine

I am pleased that St Buddleia is doing well Dutchy - it must be your tender loving care!! If I ever get a seedling I will worship it...
Mmmh well I shall have a think about what we can do with OM - under breath mumbling eh? Hope he isn't slightly deaf........we would have lost out before we start....
Well I must admit that I am curious as to why the Blue Budd's that I sent OM are still going strong and the red ones have gone to the Budd heaven to join their ancestors from my garden. The only thing I can think of is that the plant is to young....not sure what difference that makes though because OM says they arrived in good nick......
I wonder if he has been treating them properly......you know talking to them and feeding them and planting them in the best compost as we do here.

RF Au contraire, they were treated with total distain as befits budds - but which they seem to like. If you take any notice of them, they get worried and confused. OM.

Oh dear - well that is the answer then - my Budd's are worried and confused and the fact that you have treated them with utter contempt OM when they were used to being lovingly cared for by yours truly...........desperate for affection that's what... - I think they just didn't want to live anymore....... Dare I say this that I even pile up leaves in the autumn for protection and they get a good dose of fertiliser every Spring...... - these are Superior continental Budd's you know - not your common or garden ones that attached themselves to walls and traffic islands and throw seeds everywhere.... oooo I wish mine did....Keep on muttering Dutchy .....we will get him to understand....one day.... he is a man after all - these things take longer for them...RF

Out on the European continent you only have to look at them and they keel over. Well that is what RF and I have been doing so far. Not untill recently did it stop working for me as the ones at MssK are still alive.
