The first flowers are just coming out on my budds. This is Pink Delight. It gets taller every year despite being pruned hard.

Do you think they're what they should be Jilly or that T&M's colour photography leaves as much to be desired as their plant accuracy?

That is good news RF - I have a huge budd bush but no flowers at the moment.
I think I can see some roots coming on the cuttings though Mowhay!

That's great Rf I'm sure you're delighted. My Buzz has been blooming well now for a few weeks. Thanks again Jasmine, who'd believe that those little buds would grow and do so well.

Quite LG - yours is doing very well. Mine is a little swamped by RFs special budd - I didn't realise that got sooo big! I might have to do a bit of a swop around in a few months time - we'll see how it goes.

This is Black Knight and Pink Delight... And over the fence, one of 2 babies that popped up which must be a mixture of the two! The flower spikes are so long they remind me of elephant trunks! ;D

I love my Pink Delight, it is very old now for a buddleia but the flowers are still tremendous even if the bush is suffering from the usual 'ancient' budd problems.
I got three Buzz budds earlier this year, and my 'magenta' has flowered. Must try and get a photo when I'm out the front

Those 2 buds are great together Jasmine. I'm very jealous of those wonderful Teasel too. ;D

I just thought of budds going on and on for ever Tig - what happens as they get older. They'd be hard work to grub out.
Thanks LG - I think the teasel must have been a gift from the birds - I certainly haven't planted any! The birds should love the seed heads later!

I have noted over the years Jas, that once they start to become 'ancient', ie 15 to 20 years old, they have a tendency to start splitting at the base and a white fungal infection seems to appear. Perhaps it is just my garden that has this problem, but it does only seem to bother them when they get a chunky bottom trunk x Tig

Budds getting "ancient"....haha..oh how I wish I could get a white fungal infection on one of my Budds...
Never seen it and with the story of Budds on this side of the water I doubt I ever will. Out of interest, does it kill them or does it clear up after a while??

Jasmine, that's what I was thinking. I can't help with old buds Rf as the only one I have going is the Buzz in the pot.

It is the beginning of a downward spiral of decay RF. I have tried treating them with fungicide but it seems to get right into the heart of the woody growth, eventually the growth becomes so weak and stunted that they are best removed, and a new one planted somewhere else - they self-seed around my garden, I have a rather large lochinch growing in the bottom veg patch, must to OHs annoyance ;D

Not sure what is worse - losing them due to the temperature etc or keeping them and losing them to fungus...
I still have never had a seedling ever in my garden - never seen one any where else either!!

I was closing the bedroom curtains a little while ago and noticed one growing out of the side of my flat roof. I know it's not unusual for them to grow in odd places but I'd never noticed that I had one there before. I'll have to find some way of getting up to it, would'nt trust the roof to carry my weight as I've already got a leak that needs fixed and it might give way.

Seedlings galore pop up here but they are seldom like the budds they must have come from. Thanks for the info Tig - I've got quite a long time to go then as I think those 2 budds must be no more than 5 years old.

RF's special budd has flowered. It is an emormous shrub too. I had the feeling it was going to be small and neat - it isn't! ;D It's very hard to capture the delicate lavender blush to the newly opened flowers. They are gorgeous.

I have to say that mine is fantastic now that I have it in the ground...just hope it doesn't get too big for where I have it as they do not like to be moved...
I love the lavender buds - they make the apricot look even more appealing..

How very different it is Zara, I can just see a hint of lavender there. The leaves are so healthy looking. Some of the leaves on my Buzz have turned yellow, is it just age do you think? I mean is it just finishing for the summer? The flowers are going over too but I've given them a bit of a haircut. They did'nt really last that long, 2 weeks or so. i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/undecided.gif
