I have Budd seedlings everywhere - I pruned two of mine back and have trained them now into thin tall "trees" rather than overhanging bushes One is still growing in my Mum's house in the roof in the gutter - it really needs to be sorted as it causing a bit of damp but it clings on year on year on Travelling by train this week to Manchester they are neck to neck along the embankment - seems they will grow in any soil - mine is clay ;D

That's good to know. How are your budds doing RF - had you lost some? (Hope not).

It looks very much as though I have lost the OM Budd and the Buzz - I still have them in a tub/ground just in case but I am not holding out much hope.
Oddly enough the special Budd is alive (bit weak), Black Knight is doing well and the Royal Red is alive but has taken a knock...
Of them all the Blue Chip is probably the best. It grows from the bottom although I pruned it back a little it is still growing from the stems as well - it should be really bushy !!

That's a shame RF. I'll have to google Blue Chip - not heard of that one. I can't wait to get some more cuttings off your special budd.

Blue Chip is the dwarf one - bigger than the Buzz and I have to admit fantastic ..

My Bud is looking very sorry for itself, very battered. I think it's been eaten by something, not S&S as I've checked. Perhaps the whitefly had a feast and then got washed off with the rains.

I have lots of baby buds growing in my block paving - they will have to go am afraid ;D I cut back and pruned two of my buds to try and stunt their growth and it appears to be working. One at the front is now tallish but not filling out sideways and the one in the back garden is just small enough to look nice but not take over the border

I wonder why that is LG I've just planted Budd Buzz in the ground. It looks ok for something which had really outgrown its pot.

The Budd growing out of the gutter at my Mum's House is still there and causing probs with rain coming into the bedroom - it had been cut out or so I thought - hardy chaps are they not

I'd like to get a couple of budds. What varieties would you recommend? Something a bit larger than the dwarf varieties, please.

Jenny dont throw the babies away I would love 5 or 6 of them off you, mine was cut down about 10 years ago and its just 4' high and very thick it really needs some fencing or something to grow up but it is flowering. TP not sure what to recommend for you but lots of folks on here have lots of differant ones so I'm sure someone will help you.

I've got Royal Red, Black Knight and Pink Delight totp - they are all gorgeous and pruning them in February keeps them a reasonable size every year.

I've had no pests this year at all..........yet! No greenfly, whitefly, aphids or leafbitey things.......dare I say it, even the slugs and snails seem less in number I expect they're all in front of the fire watching tv and waiting for summery weather ;D

Oh am so sorry I did the dirty deed earlier when the rain stayed off - the roots are quite easy to pull out as they are in sand Next time they appear I will let you know - do you want the one growing out of my Mum's gutter - it is about 2 feet x 2 feet and in flower already

With the heat, the most I can say is mine didn't die.
I still have it in a pot where it gets watered with the vegetables!
