Yeah, I have several recycled wash hand basins as minature frog ponds. I got another one in June which was being thrown out of a house that was being redecorated and renovated... check it out. I gave it away to be honest to a friend with an allotment. I hope it'll help with pest control for him if he can get a frog or two to settle in it. It still had the plug in it, which is important. One I did for myself, with a silicone seal, has not worked. It was a cheap sealant and has gone soft and not waterproof. Must try another solution.

I found the perfect piece of wood for the door to the compo bin, but it's stuck in the skip with other stuff wedged against it, I nearly did my back in.

oh yeah, LG, that's good. But this one, my own one that I have on a shared allotment doesn't even have the plughole in it. It's a bare sink. hmm, I wonder would it work. It only has to hold the basic water pressure of the amount of water contained in the sink. I'll look and see...I'll get one and can always use it at home anyway. Thanks for the idea.

When I lived in London I was always seeing skips but they are few and far between round here and I never see anything interesting poking out of them.

yeah, there are a few about alright, surprising considering the economy and the lack of money.
to be honest, I'm looking to get rid of stuff, not accumulate more, you know?
I'll try and see if I can dig up my existing sink photos....

Ah.....recycling and allotments....a marriage made in heaven! We currently have three neighbours on our please leave your old carpets here list. Then when I'm out and about I often return with useful planks of wood....fence posts....old buckets....pots.....bits of chicken wire. People dump it...I give it a new home.

Very occasionally our allotment site has a purge on rubbish. A skip is brought and we are encouraged to have a clear out. Happily there are several of us who then rifle through said skip to "liberate" assorted items. ;D

I forgot, again. the other week, I scavanged a 2' earthen ware window box. Hmmm, it looks fine. I'm surprised it was thrown out, you know?
Photo to follow tomorrow when it's brighter. (and maybe if I can get the phone and computer to talk to each other....)

as if I have time to do this, but I have the photo site open, so here goes.... A display at a local discount shop was being thrown out... close up so, I did this before, I carried it to a local Senior Citizen's Sheltered Accommodation and it will be used for a shelving unit in their Greehouse.... and one more, from the front....

Thankfully snails are rare in my garden but I'm overun with slugs. The tiny ones are the worst.

I know it has been mentioned before but especially now with the festive season nearly upon us and perhaps folk buying party packs of sausage and bacon rolls etc... you know the ones I mean, some of them are black and made of strong plastic. (The M&S ones) They make great little seed trays if you punch a few drainage holes in the bottom with a skewer. I've washed and put holes in the ones with mini garlic kieve bites and one with cocktail sausages wrapped in bacon. Perfect size for sowing seeds.

I must save some trays Ladygardener - I am programmed to wash them up and recycle them but I might as well wash them up and save them for seeds!
