I watered & weeded too, and managed to prick out the rudbeckia gloriosa seedlings from my late sowing, 20 have gone in individual cells, will wait and see how many survive. Keep finding red devils, and snails!

I'm absolutely shattered, done far too much, I need to find my off switch sometimes. I weeded the veg plot and plated out the 14 runner beans which were in the pot I'd bought. Planted the three cucumbers and one courgette in large containers in the WIG. Lifted the tulip bulbs from a container and put them in the growhouse to dry off. Planted out all the caladiums (10 of them) into containers and added the coleus I'd grown from seed. Potted on the dahlia fireworks I'd grown from seed. Cleared a weedy patch down the back and dug out 3 huge ragworts I'd somehow not seen, must just ignore big green things sometimes. Cleared the seedheads off some couch grass out the front, I can't dig it out at the moment it has gone under loads of plants in the hedge side border. Filled pots with ericaceous compost and planted up the 9 hydrangeas I'd grown on. Some may sulk but they had outgrown the house. Got the long hoe out to reach some weeds I'd spotted growing at the back of the top border by the fence. Walking round to find my missing tools ( ) I spotted two red devils mating, got them then went round all the other lilies, 20 of the things found, all gone now, and five snails that were halfway up plants, two clematis have been stripped of all the buds!
Forgot to mention I sowed a dozen sweetcorn incredible f1 direct into the veg plot as the old packet I sowed earlier were a no show.

We had a furtle to see why our potatoes weren't showing when everyone else seemed to have some growth, ours had rotted with the wet, we turned the bed they were in and composted any we found, planted a dozen or so in a drier bed in the middle of the plot and we now have everything crossed, going to make some mounds to grow leeks and carrots in in the other bed, that's the problem of being at the bottom of the hill.

Tackled the winter baskets and have replanted them with nasturtium peach melba, a few trailing begonias and one had a pink diascia in it which was regrowing so I tidied it up & left it. Cleared moss from a couple of other large containers added a bit of fertiliser and topped up with fresh compost.

That's a real shame about your potatoes Barbara. Hopefully those sweetcorn will germinate for you Tig. We're growing incredible too. I did some more planting in the area at the bottom of the garden, it's too big to call a bed but it's coming on well. Jenny added some more soil to the raised beds and did a good bit of planting out.

Pottered all morning, planted up the box in front of the house with the SR summer fruit selection, killed a lily beetle and dug up a couple of lilies that looked ''scruffy'' and put them in a pot, I can keep an eye on them that way, washed lots of pots and stacked them in a basket, and potted up a box of dianthus, sowed some cornflower seeds and weeded inside the obelisk, fed the clematis and watered everything in.

I've pruned the cream flowered akebia quinata, she's a right thug once she gets going and latches on to anthing within 2 metres of the arch she's on, not now she won't, not for a while anyway. Snails galore in it, one fell down the front of my top into my bra, then I got my tissue out of my sleeve to blow my nose and there was one on that! Also pruned the purple akebia, clematis montana mayleen and another I call Fozzies alpina - both the latter were like triffids. Pulled out all the plain yellow wall flowers that were old and sprawling about too much, left some of the multicoloured ones in to set seed. Tipped out the dahlia fireworks to try and bush them up a bit, I've potted up the tops, not sure if they'll grow but thought it was worth a try. The caladuium red flash was producing a flower so I've cut that out as it weakens them so I've read.

Alan's done ours Tig, grief, it's a triffid! I've been emptying tulip pots, not all of them as some of them are still quite pretty, but I need to get planting!

Jenny finished planting the pyrecantha in one of the side borders, she had done most of them last year but then winter came and we still had some in containers to get into the ground. Most of them will have lovely berries this year and the birds will be happy. We also rehomed daisies and monarda and planted out some roses growing in containers into the ground where they should settle in well.

We've been on the allotments, watered in the GH, planted out a couple of squash plants and sowed some fennel seeds, tipped home made compost onto the new raised bed and sowed some more peas.

I sowed more peas the other day as well, our squash are all in the raised bed as are the sweetcorn. I got some more things planted out yesterday and Jenny did up a couple of summer containers.

Typical, after buying and planting some runner beans the ones I sowed have now appeared so I've got double runners I've watered, got everything out of the growhouses for some direct sunshine, climbed in and deadheaded all the bluebells, they spread enough as it is. Found five hazels sprouting that the dratted squirrels must have buried and forgotten about, glad I got behind the acers or I would never have found them until they'd got a good root system. Bet there are more sprouting that I haven't found yet, there was one in the pot of ismene bulbs coming up, that's out too. I was going to plant out the begonias into their containers but time flew, I've also got 3 clematis that need potting on, must make a note as I keep forgetting about them.

Thanks for the reminder about the clematis Tig, I took cuttings of the viticella Clematis Madame Julia Correvon in my own garden and they look to have taken well, there's a good bit of new growth on them so I'd like to get them planted out. I might go out later on and do that.

I've emptied all the tulip pots, it was far too hot to be doing it but it is done. There was some spectacular fungus in a couple of pots! Now I've got the job of planting up the empty pots, that will be far more fun!

I planted out one bit of the clematis and a couple of rooted bits of salvia amistad that I'd taken cuttings of from my garden last autumn. I've repotted the others for now as the root system is'nt great. I got lots of small young plants grown from seed planted out and have continued cutting back Hellibore.

I planted the double purple osteo plugs into containers, I doubt a couple will survive, they have two chances. I also managed to fit in a few more of the marigolds - then watered as much as I could. Toms are doing well apart from the one Annie's Singapore which is still struggling. The sweetcorn had popped up, just need to keep the sparrows from dust bathing where they are, and they've eaten the pea sprouts, darned wildlife.

I've weeded a few of my pots and replace the top couple of inches of compost, planted what was left of my petunias half perished while I was away I had forgotten them. We need some rain everything is parched.

I know just what you mean about the sparrows dust bathing Tig, we have an area that they've decimated nearly all the plants in and they're loving it for their fun times. We're kind of giving up with it now and letting them be, we will put some painted stones there instead. I've planted the marigold "Red Cherry" in beside all the tomatoes, made up a container with some petunia "Confetti mix" Jenny grew from seed along with dianthus "Superbus" that Jenny grew from seeds a few years back and has lasted such a long time. Jenny used the electric mower to mow around the edges of the new area she has developed, her OH uses the sit on mower and he does'nt mow it at all as it's too big. I've pricked out more Nicotiana Sylvestris, I think these ones will not flower until next year but hey ho. I've planted out some Zinnia we've grown from seed along with Petunias and took out the hose and watered the veg and fruit bed. We still have a good bit of planting out to do.

We had rain early morning until about half nine, not heavy just drizzle but it was enough to half fill a water butt and water the garden a bit, so I decided to get all the seed grown summer bedding planted as the roots were all growing through the bottom of the pots, 3 different types of zinnias (12 in total), 4 white gazebo cosmos, 4 tithonia arcade mix, 4 mr majestic marigolds, 8 nicotiana mixed, 3 heliotropium dwarf marine and the rest of the hybrid marigold plugs (10) have gone into any remaining gaps at the front of the borders. Weeded and pruned back old stems as I went along, then cut off loads of flowers on the stipa gigantia which had sprawled across where we walk, I've not had chance to try and truss it up before they grew to 6' tall or 6' sprawl! I've just got to find spaces for the dozen foxgloves and a lot of seed grown peonys ... oh and plant the begonias & dahlias

I've cut the choisya sundance on the front, taken a couple of foot off it, bin collection day tomorrow so thought I might as well fill it. I got the scissors and snipped all the leaves with peach leaf curl, the melred has some peaches on, but barely any leaves now. OH did a bit of weeding for me and I pulled some more of the spreading grass out of the border by the hedge. Found a stipa gigantea seedling growing in one of the clumps of dieramas so managed to use a fork and prise it out, hopefully not damaged the dierama.

Todays mission was to arrange a kind of barrier to keep the rooks away from the sweetcorn, we'll see how it goes. Other than that, Jenny dug up a huge perennial geranium and we've divided it and have it in the new area in the back garden, planted out a few large pots of narcissus as well and some tithonia and cosmos. I've put some mulch around some of the shrubs as they got a good water the other day with the hose.

I've been putting some string around the frames for the big peas in one of the raised beds, the sugar snap ones are twining round shrubby sticks I used from pruning in winter. I've taken cuttings from Penstemon and Wallflowers, watered pots of course and moved most of the Dahlia out of their sheltered but open spot in the poly. Did some dead heading of the Ajuga, it does make it look much better and some of the Geum as well.

Scrubbed the patio, cleaned the bird baths topped up the feeder, couldn't get sunflower hearts so black sunflower seeds are in, the sparrows aren't happy, they are throwing them on the floor.
