It's a montana so it should have been hardy enough Jen, I haven't got her but my montana rubens is very slow to show new growth this year. Sometimes it just gets the flower buds appearing before any leaves unfurl

Has anyone tried planting two Clems in the same hole? I'm thinking of doing that, though I realise that they'll have to be the same pruning group. Some experts recommend this.

I always think it is so amazing that from the most awful looking dead brown spiky sticks such gorgeous flowers immerse

I bought my GF a Blue Angel as she has two cats one called Blue and the other Angel - very apt - they are still living - the clems and of course the cats - which is amazing cos she knows nothing about plants

I got Blue Angel reduced last summer and was amazed by its pretty crinkled flowers - one day the plant was just covered - it was lovely.

I have the same two in flower Jas, and Miss Bateman has had more than a hint of pink in the buds as they open and around the edge of the flowers this year. Have you noticed if yours has?

I don't think so Tig - but I was quite taken with the pepperminty green stripe down the centre of the petals - will check for a pink tinge when I get the washing in.

Ooooh no Geranium, what a shame (mine seems to be OK at the moment, no buds as I have her in shade until after midday). Jas, you got the washing in yet? Is Miss Bateman blushing at your smalls ;D I'm going to oink my crystal fountain out tomorrow and check that it wasn't grown in those little sock thingies, they don't seem to disintegrate easily and my Fond Memories was choked before I embarked on a rescue mission, think CF deserves some tlc before I ditch it x Tig

Those sock thingies often seem to distort the roots....I thought they were biodegradable I have totally ignored any clematis' I've planted in the dim and distant past as I have found them too much trouble for very little return and they never seen to establish ::)I have, sneakily noticed some are growing, but I am still ignoring them.. as I fully expect them to succumb to...slugs,snails,wilt,wet, acid soil, full moonitis...............................can't be doing with 'em - all bare straggly stems and flowers right at the top out of reach and sight ;D ;D

That is 'cos you ignore them Auricula instead of looking after them properly ;D Dependent of the type they benefit from correct care and attention, including pruning and feeding regimes I find that those socks don't degrade at all sometime, they just choke the root system! Crystal Fountain has been lifted and I know why it looked so sick .... it barely had any root growth at all I've potted it up in some new compost and will keep it potted until it shows some vigorous growth. x Tig
