Does'nt look like it to me maggy, mine is'nt in bloom yet but I'll post a pic when it does. Richard Pennell. The flower on this one is small. It might be Clem. Montana Mayleen.

I bought this one as Marie Boisselot, however it isn't. It is Mevrouw le Coultre - not quite as easy to say or remember

Lovely Clems Tig. Do you know maggy, I think you might be right after all. I've the 1st flower on my HH and it's very similar to yours so you've likely not mixed up the labels at all. Normally mine does'nt bloom until later in the summer and is'nt all pink, it normally has an obvious line in it but my early flower does'nt. I know that Clems who give a few blooms early and then bloom properly later in the season, can have flowers that don't look the same at all.

My Maylee is'nt what I thought it was, the flowers has opened out and it's quite big and more white than pinkish. This is Vyvyan Pennell in the bottom border, opened out fully now.

I have a question.
At my studio I have a balcony that sits in full sun, gets all the wind. A potted tree I had decided to kick the proverbial bucket. It did leave a lovely stem for something to climb and I wonder if there is a Clematis that does not grow too fast or is easy with being cut back hard and will survive these circumstances.
Any advise even the one that says I am bonkers to want a Clem there is welcome.

Dutchy, for sure Clematis group 3 would suit your needs. They get cut back hard at the end of winter/early springtime and I cut mine back by about half in October/November to stop them rocking around. It really depends on which colour you'd like best but there are lots which are suitable for a container and sunshine according to Taylors Clematis. You could look on their site then see if you can find which one you like nearer to you.

I wonder if a little alpina would fit the bill ? Mine is very slow growing and a delicate little flower.

Thank you both Ladygardener, maggy, I will look at the site. As for Alpina isn't that one that loves shade? I have a lovely alpina at home but it loves the small tree it is growing in. I cannot provide a shady bottom ( ) for the clem. And the tub it sits in, 60 litre builders tub, is black. That I can alter by a surround but the other plants in the tub don't give much shelter against heat and it sure gets hot there.

You could put some large pebbles on top of the pot to keep the clem roots cool Dutchy. I have to do that with some I grow in more sunny positions. It would be nice to have a repeat flowering clematis, I have found Piilu to be a good do-er. Freckles in the wintery sunshine today.

I googled Piilu and it is too big Tig, same for Freckles, which I like very much, it too goes to four meters and I want one that goes to 2 m max. Heyho I might end up with something totally different. Thanks for the info though.

Thanks OB those do look interesting. Thing is I like the whites best ( Tranquiliti ) but those still need partial shade and I have full sun. The ones that can take that are the pinks and I do not like those. I would love a more natural Form than these flowering like mad plants. My balcony has rugged wasteland as a theme. I know I might end up with evergreen Honeysuckle. Which grows like mad....... Nah.
