? x 5 From The Wilts Cottage ? x 11 in pots ? x 1 Evergreen, same flower as Wisley cream with pink freckles ? x 1 Purple ? x 1 From Sarah Are you sure the pink freckles one isn't Freckles? If not it is most likely to be Cirrhosa "Balearica" - they are similar but the latter has less freckles. I'll need more clues if I'm to help with the others though! ;D

Oh no P I didn't expect you to ID them from my list I will let them flower then take some pics and post them on the Clems Q & A thread. I probably have pictures of some of them but to be honest can't remember which is which. Some of the ? ones are cuttings I've grown from Clems that I have, and also cuttings and self rooted ones from other places. You know places like friends houses where bits break off and happen to fall into a little poly bag with some damp kitchen roll in it And some are what I've dug up from my gdn when I moved things around last back end. ? x 5 From The Wilts Cottage - These are bits that had self rooted at friends cottage in Wiltshire. ? x 11 in pots - these are a mix of cuttings and ones from my gdn ? x 1 Evergreen, same flower colour as Wisley cream but with pink freckles on the inside of the flower ? x 1 Purple - dug up from my gdn ? x 1 From Sarah - One my old boss gave me that had self rooted from hers, small purple flowers I think she said, not flower in last 2 years though It's nice to see what other members have though isn't it. We'll all end up with Wish Lists now for Roses, Hostas, Dahlias and now Clems too ;D

Have looked at the evergreen Clem properly today and checked it out and it is Balearica, Thanks P. I have done a spreadsheet tonight with all my known and unknown Clems listed with all the detail on them like pruning, aspect, height etc etc

Yep bought it yesterday via Morrison's. What group would you say Warszawaska Nike is? If grp 2 will plant with pillu or if Grp 3 with Julia Hull site say's 3 but others sites say 2 so hence dilemma Sara

Hehehe! You'll love it!!! ;D
Warszawska Nike is group 3 in my encyclopedia - but according to other books it can just be light pruned. Given that Piilu is a delicate little duckling (sorry - couldn't resist!) you might be better putting Warsaw Nike in with Madame Julia - I think they are more suited in size.
I hope this helps a bit! Px

Hi Plocket,
Took your advice and have planted Warszawska Nike with Viticella “Madame Julia Correvon” to scramble up the obelisk (metal thingy)
They are both quite young plants should I expect much this season?
Sara ;D
ps forgot "Avalanche" on my list

As they are both Group 3s I think they should do fairly well Sara - fingers crossed. Your list is getting longer!!!!! ;D

Is there an evergreen clematis that stays more like a bush rather than a climber? If so, I'd like one LOL

If it's a sunny sheltered spot you could grow a few Pixies, Cartmanii Joe's or Avalanches together (that sort of clematis) but you'd probably need some sort of structure inside to form the shape!
(Love the photo/avatar btw Aprilaydee - is that Shadda settling into his new home?)
I've a confession to make - I've got two more clems to go on my list: Addisonii and Angustifolia. OH bought them for me for Easter instead of an egg ;D

no that was Shads at my mum's. Took a pic of him and Sally cuddling up together on the couch this evening though.
So there aren't any clematisisisisis that just form a bush then?! dammit. We've got a few at work but they're all climber types that will grow mahoosive in time. So can I just get some of those small obelisk things or some short canes and form a wigwam type thing and get a small clematis to stay in a pot?

I don't know of any evergreens that are bush-like Aprilaydee - that doesn't mean there aren't any!!!
Personally I'd go with the container/obelisk thing because you can then organise the plant to get the shape you want (you don't have to buy an obelisk though - get some sturdy garden wire and/or chicken wire and you could make whatever shape you want!) and the smaller evergreens will be quite happy in a pot. Evergreens want sun though, and some need shelter in winter.
If you go for the ones I mentioned in my earlier post they stay quite small.
Can't wait to see Shadda - how are you settling into your new home without the beastly flat-mate?

They are both gorgeous Aprilaydee (you know me!!! ) but not evergreen!!!!! If you need somewhere to have a good peruse, try this place: www.clematis.hull.ac.uk/new-clemlistsearch.cfm - put in all your requirements and see what it throws up. Some might be more difficult to find than others, but if your heart is set on something special try www.sheilachapman.com as she's a clematis specialist. Delivery isn't cheap but her plants are excellent!

Probably!!! It's just a case of working out whether I can plant them with something I already have, whether to grow them together (which I'm not sure about!) in a pot, individually in pots, or whether I can fit one into the Margi Bed - decisions, decisions!!!

I have the same problem with my lavenders.... do I put the small ones in a pot together, do I put them in a trough, do I put them all in a big pot... I sat there for a good half hour earlier just staring at them wondering.
Think I'll put them into separate pots though. Just need the money to buy them now.

I went to a local nursery today (only taken me a year to get around to going). They had loooooooooooooooooooooads of clematisisisis <gollum stylie> and said they had more coming out of the greenhouses soon. The guy I was talking to didn't know that much about them though.
They had a lot of plants but I have to say it wasn't much different to what we have at work and ours are cheaper plus my discount. If I needed something specialised or fothergills/unwin seeds I could go there but otherwise not that impressed.
Might try and get to Tal Y Coed nurseries soon too. Ooooh and I think I might be going to Bodnant Gardens soon too <claps>

Hi FA. I have the clematis JP & I am about to dig it up & give it away. It has a lovely flower but is so rampant. After a few years it just went mad. It spread over the lawn & everywhere. I planted it under a large Aucuba & still had problems. Hope I haven't spoilt your fun. Janet.
