Good news about your penstemons Jasmine, I hobbled out to the covered back yard to check mine and there are tiny tiny sprouts coming. I'll be pleased if I even get a few of them. ;D

Oh I have one little something like that Tig, I think it's a guem (sp) I must post a pic of it now that it's gotten a couple of leaves to see if anyone can identify it. It's been looked after since it came home from a park with me last autumn. ;D

How are your hellebore seeds doing Tig? Are you going to refridgerate them yet or are you going to leave them for a bit longer? They are the only seeds I am not having any luck with at all.

No sign of anything yet Jas, however I only sowed them on the 21/04 so I am not expecting anything yet, 29 days for 'summer' germination is the shortest period I can find, but on the other side the longest is 373 days - think we may need a lot of patience with them x Tig

Must get some echium seeds - no seedlings for sale anywhere locally, due to the bad weather in February, so I think it will be a good opportunity to try out a variety of types and see what happens

Well today I made a little window trough of things I've grown from cuttings and seeds, nothing spectacular just primula(from seed), fuscia (cuttings from last autumn)Pelagonium(cuttings from last year) some variagated ivy (cutting) Antheranium (sp) (from seed)and I' e sprinkled some night scented and virginia stock mixed seeds in the bare places. It was the first time I've been able to do anything at all in the garden and it felt so good. I also sprinkled some night scented stock seeds into the big tub with the lavender. It's so good after so long to be able to do something. ;D

Hi Jasmine, I grow a couple of different types of lavender. The one in the tub by the door is Munstead as far as I remember, I've had it for a few years and almost threw it out last year as it had'nt done well for the past couple of years. I cut it back even harder than usual and now it's absolutely terrific. Really good size too. The best it's ever been and full of flower buds. I also have one of the french lavenders with the little ears and it's a great lavender. They say they're not really hardy in the UK but they've survived for years our winters here in NI. It's in a pot sunk into the ground. I'm also growing dwarf munstead which I sowed last year and am hoping they too flower this year.

I wonder what folks are sowing at the moment? It comes to this time of year and I'm itching to get sowing again. The last seeds I sowed were at the beginning of june and were salad and rocket crops, they've all germinated. Oh and the night scented stock and virginia stock which I scattered in may has germinated, hopefully that will fill a few bare patches and give a nice scent too. Also at the beginning of june I sowed some of the 10 week stock seeds I'd bought in spain. It's germinated well too. What's everyone else sowing now then.
