I am not usually very successful growing seeds in my propagator but I thought I'd have another try this year.
Sowed two lots of seeds today
LOBELIA - Vedrariensis and
PELARGONIUM F2 - Capri

My Prunella "Freelander" are poking through after a week.
Sowed 2 different varieties of leeks this weekend - "Musselburgh" and "Prizetaker".
Also bought some seed potatoes "Swift" and "Elgar", which are now in egg boxes being chitted. Rather annoyingly there were only 9 instead of 10 in the packet of Elgar, so have emailed Westland Horticulture/Unwins to tell them.

I have sown my sweetpea seeds that I took from my own flowers last year! a few had little yellow sprouts on them.
The only flower seeds Ive bought are nasturtian and sunflowers I thought I would wait a couple of weeks before sowing them.

Received an apology email from them this morning and they are also sending me "some" garden centre vouchers as well, which I thought was very kind of them.

Gosh how very generous of them Bagpuss, you've done well. I've got my leeks, chives and sweet mini peppers sown yesterday and transplanted my baby tomato seedlings.

It's worth mentioning these things isn't it Bagpuss. Most gardening companies seem keen to put things right.

I thought it generous of them LG and yes Jas, I do think it is worth mentioning these things even if it is to let them know they may have a problem at their end which they can put right so it doesn't happen to someone else.

What have you gone and done Jonah. ;D Well done Auricula, looks like it was worth getting then. No sign of anything of mine germinatig yet but it's early days. There is quite a lot of condensation in the propagator which I'm having to remove daily. I'd guess this is normal.

That's great Auricula. I have my first few Mirabilis poking through now, which I am really pleased about. I was given an old heated propagator by my neighbour, so I don't have it switched all the time, but that doesn't seem to have mattered at all. My goodness Jonah, 80 new packets of seed, and I thought I could get carried away. i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/grin.gif Are they all flowers, veg or both?

Being the tidy person I am, after I'd sown my Pelargonium seeds I threw the packet away, I can't remember when to transplant, so I looked online, it says 3 weeks, is that about right, they are 2in tall already help!!! ;D

I've got two mini greenhouses with lights on in the conservatory to get them started, but it's the second stage where they go into bigger pots that will be a problem! I'll have to have a good old sort out and see what can be left til the autumn or started in a cold frame/ in situ. I know I'll get in a right muddle though, I always do!

One of my saved pelargonium seeds has germinated I am soaking some abutilon seeds, having nicked them with a file first (what a fiddly job that was!) and I have a seed tray 'warming' ready to sow them tonight ... x Tig

I'm not sowing anything more until all the seeds I have already sown have at least started to germinate, what's keeping them I wonder.

I ended up with 21, germinated Pelagoniums, I thought there were only 20 in the packet, anyway they are getting a second set of leaves so I'll prick them out next week.

Well it was the seeds really, the next parts the hardest, getting them to survive, without being to leggy, or getting damp or too dry or whatever else happens to seedlings when I transplant them. ;D

Thats alway the worst bit for me as well Barbara, I specialise in leggy seedlings i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/rolleyes.gif . I've brought some compost indoors to warm up & this week I'm going to sow Verbascum Southern Charm (I've already got 1 plant that I've had for a couple of years) it's a lovely mix of copper & pink with blue stamens. Also going to do some Cobaea it's a bit early but apparently it takes a while to germinate & I'll need the heated prop in March for the Toms. The patio sweet peas that I did a few weeks ago took a while to do anything, but they're up now. Jillyx

On Saturday did one polystyrene tray of Alyssum carpet of snow/pastel carpet (and checked this morning and I've got quite a few poking through already). They were popped in the propagator that I don't use as a heated one. Also did a first sowing of one pot of Dahlia dwarf mixed doubles, and have one of those poking through too and a first sowing of Digitalis Obscura "willow leaved" foxglove (which is outside in the fleece covered mini growhouse).
I am trying really, really hard not to get carried away, but to no avail (what with the veggie seeds I've started off). One propagator is full to bursting and the other has virtually no room left in it.

The splish splash I sowed last October and left outside all winter have just poked their tiny heads through the frozen compost today! And another 'frozen' pot full of saved dicentra seeds is a mass of new growth! Ain't nature grand Must do some more sweet peas, or maybe wait until early next month x Tig

I've been sowing too but I'll wait until I see some germination before I post what. I've got 2 Cosmos Sonata germinated. I think I need to buy proper seed compost tomorrow as I'm not having much success with old compost.
