Thanks for that RF - job for when I come back from shopping this aft.
What with all the seeds I saved this year, plus what I had left last year, what I've bought this year and what GWD friends have sent me I could almost start a commercial venture myself ;D But I do love trying to get things going, and I am going to sow things continuously once the weather starts to warm up.

It seems quite a few of us are buying heated propagators this year, I can't wait to try mine out. I think something will have to be sown this weekend, it might cheer me up during all these grey days. ;D

I am holding back atm....I sow 'twirley' so often that I'm reluctant to start yet/ I tend to end up with lots of leggy seedlings as the light levels aren't good enough here. I think that some of you living further south would maybe be able to sow before me...
Looking through the seed packets tho I may start off things like leeks in deep pots. ;D and some of the exotics need a loooooong time to germinate.....

Well done Barbara. CPB I'm guilty as charged too. My Tomato seedlings have very long legs, they're so leggy already. I'm seriously considering chucking them all and leaving it another while.

One way I've got round the leggy seedling problem is to pot on the seedlings deep (as in 'up to their necks') in fresh compost...it isn't ideal but desperate times etc ;D Keeping them in a well lit place, turning the seed tray at least twice daily so that the seedlings don't flop over to one side helps too. Just because I have problems with early sowings doesn't mean you will too LG....there are many contributing factors and everyone will have slightly different growing conditions. Your babies will prolly be fine... ;D

I've got 14 pelgers ;D showing at the moment, and 1 I'm not sure of, I'm quite happy at that % really, better if it was a 100% but never mind.

I used my new propagator for the first time today. I sowed some gazania seeds. I hope they will be ok.The propagator is a cheap one and it doesn't have a thermostatic control - in fact it doesn't have any controls at all, not even a light to show it's on You just plug it in!! I trust they won't fry??!! ;D ;D

Those are good looking seedlings there RF. I haven't sown much yet. Last weekend I bought some pots and a small tray of compost indoors to warm up and then sowed a tray of Lychnis Vesuvius and a pot each of Prunella "Freelander", Paradisea Lusitanica, Mirabilis "Limelight" and "Custard & Cream". The Lychnis is in the fleece covered mini growhouse and the other pots I have popped in a propagator. Fingers crossed something happens. Reading others' posts on this thread, I think I may go through my veg seeds this evening to see if there is anything I can be starting soon.

I couldn't just read this thread & not do something any longer. I've sown some patio sweet peas (from the Guy Fawkes competition) they're in the porch. Thanks to a reminder from Rosefriend about Datura I'll be sowing those tomorrow & seeing as then the heated prop will be on I may do a few chilli's to.

;D Thanks Spru but actually it can be. verwarmde kweekbak or electrische propagator or digitale propagator and in the end I found one called electrische kweekbakjes from Royal Well Kassen. And they have a retailer at an app. 35 minutes drive. So I am going to call them if they have the small windowsill one I want. By the way .be is in Belgium, so is vlaamszaadhuis and they don't retail in the Netherlands. One would expect them to be happy with clients but no
