I bought some Jekka McVikar Rocket seeds the other day in Dobbies and just a few days after sowing, the cells are full of lovely little green Rocket seedlings. I have them sitting in the bathroom window. For years I've struggled with Rocket, it has been very hit and miss for me so fingers crossed for this lot. I'll move them out into the gh in a day or two. My wild flower mix is up as well, also only sown a few days ago. Yesterday I sowed saved Tithonia seeds, Tagets "Golden Gem" and Nigella "Midnight".

Cleome went in yesterday, but they are outside in the coldframe as I am already stuck for windowsill space.

I found a seed disc in the cupboard this morning just called 'cool blue' so I planted that in a big pot and covered it with cling film as I didn't have a plastic bag big enough to go over the pot. We'll wait and see what happens if anything..

Funny you should mention sowing a seed disc Missredhead I remember years ago you'd sown some discs for a container or hanging basket and I bought a pk this year to give them a go. I have them in the kitchen to sow (or place) this week. The pk I got have "Brilliant Blue" and "Sunset Mix".We'll see how I get on. This week I've sown some Sunflower Sunburst, Scabious Tall Double Mix, Night Phlox and Zinnia Jazz.

The tithonia I sowed on 21/4 were up within 2 days and are growing a bit too well, the rudbeckia on the other hand was doing zilch, until today - I have five little seedlings and I have spotted 4 gloxinias - I don't know why I'm so pleased ... there are very few spaces left once the plants in the WIG & growhouses get planted out! Need a bigger garden

Ha ha I know what you mean Tig, I've got a dozen Tithonia plants looking for homes, (I actually need about 3 ). I did a big sowing of hardy annuals in the centre bed where I usually grow the sweet peas, so far I've sown Larkspur, Ammi majus, Marigolds Touch of Red & Indian Prince, Nigella African Bride & California poppies. I'll leave it a couple of weeks and then sow Zinnias directly outside (I'm not going to bother with faffing about doing them inside as they are just basically slug food in my garden). All the seeds were either left over from previous years or free with magazines, I'm trying to reduce my seed box.

I checked on the cosmos in the growhouse this morning and despite some very cold nights they are all up! I now have 7 sweetcorn growing in the coldframe, another miracle Along with a tray of cleome and multiple pots of peas and sweetpeas.

Cosmos xanthos, I admired Jilly, so I ordered some yesterday and they arrived this morning, quick or what. Made me laugh Barbara, Jilly, Tig, Ladygardener, isabella - I saw them on here and FB and looked at my German online GC and they had them so ordered them as well...dunno whether I can sow them for this year - what do you all think - have I got the time?? I also ordered some Sweet William for myself and Peacock - I will show her how to do them and then she has some more for next year. Got another packet of Gazania's for next year - OH loved them and I have so many this year for him. I have a mixed packet again - been trying to get the yellow or yellow striped ones but can't find them anywhere...I will see if T & M has them in their sale..

Try 6 seeds Rosefriend, you should still get flowers before summer is over, and have some left for next year. Bet they germinate really quickly now.

I'd go ahead and sow as well Rosefriend, they start blooming when they're still very small so you will get flowers. I'll sow some more Rocket, the stuff I have out back is too warm and bolting now but I want to have some through the summer.
