if you know what i mean is what shrub wrote, ;D i have tried patches and they made me feel AWFUL, i told them i'd tried the chewing gum and it didn't work, and asked for these, she said they had good results, and that if you smoked they tasted awful , a man my daughter knows gave up a 60 yes 60 a day habit, dont know how he afforded it ;D but i've got to give it up, i cant breath when i get to the top of the stairs now. and its stupid and dirty and expensive and......... this is a 12 week course so hopefully

Oh Barbara you sound just like me. I am desperate to pack it in but I have tried every which way and just fail every time. I really want to save up for my HGV course but am still smoking the best part of a fivers worth every day - how stupid am I Its so bloody easy to start and sooooo much harder to stop. Think I might ask my doctor when I go for my medical.

I didn't find it hard to stop. I just think you've got to want to badly enough. I stopped smoking as soon as we decided to start trying for our first baby 19yrs ago. Because I didn't want children living in a smokey house and having bad coughs and asthma as a lot of kids do. I wanted to give them the best chance of a healthy life. OH found it a bit more of a struggle and used to smoke outside until the baby was about a year old then he too managed to stop. Now they're all nearly grown up (youngest is 14) and none of them smoke or even want to thankfully. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR NO SMOKING BARBARA, AND YOU TOO KL. BE STRONG.

Well done Barbara. My OH smokes and I wish he would give it up. The health issue is major and also I think that the money would be better spent elsewhere (in the garden perhaps). But seriously, I do admire anyone who can give it up. He has tried and finds it so hard. I will send him to the doctors. He really needs help.

both my parents died of lung cancer, :and it still didnt stop me i'm just stupid If you were stupid this wouldn't be an issue for you. You just need a bit more will power. Ask yourself, are you going to be in charge or your body and your life or will you let a little box of tobacco sticks tell you what to do? You CAN do this.We are all behind you.

I gave up three years ago next week.
Best thing I ever did other than marry my OH and it was for him I did it. I saw what a mess it made of his eyes, he wears contacts, and it was him coughing in the evening. I just woke up one day and had no more pain for him. A couple of weeks of gum helped.
All I can do is wish you luck, you can do it, and believe me it is SOOOOO worth it!!
