I spotted the orange flowered plant above today for the first time, but didnt know what it was. Dug one up to take a pic when I got home and was just about to post the pic when I came across this post, coincidence or what!!. So can some one let me know what it is please, Id be very grateful, before I infect(?) my garden with some.

I found (silly me) some very pretty orange wild flowers and brought one back - it is now trying to take over one of my front borders - it has a hairy stem too - dont like it anymore either Is this the one you mean Jenny ? I should of photo'd the leaves too really but they are long narrow leaves. I reckon we have mentioned this plant before as being a bit of a thug on another thread. I can't recall the name of the plant though. My sister has it and I pulled a few plantlets up from her garden and am now regreting it. Tis very pretty though Years ago I too fell into the trap of moving a couple of these into the garden and couldn't believe how fast and far it spread!!!! It is indeed a thug but a very pretty one I currently have probs with Cranesbill (Wild Geranium) which I allowed to flourish when one popped up uninvited It reminded me of my childhood when we called it Granny's Needle

I love purple toadflax but am worried it might take over a bit. How long have you had it in your garden for Tig? It only appeared last year Plocket, and I intend to try and manage it by removing the spent flower heads before it sets seed everywhere. The foliage is very recognisable, and quite delicate looking, so I think I will manage to keep it in check. Time will tell

Wow Amo! Those Common Spotted Orchids are fab, and much bigger than the ones I've seen around here (which I was going to post a pic of but I don't think I'll bother now) And that Bee Orchid is out of this world!! I thought they were so rare they were only on protected sites!

RF it looks a fair bit like Alliaria petiolata (garlic mustard)? If you crush a leaf it should smell of garlic - also called Jack-by-the-hedge .. my wildflower book shows it as in flower April onwards www.plant-identification.co.uk/skye/cruciferae/alliaria-petiolata.htmI spotted it because I got the book out today, having left a 'foxglove' growing by the holly through the winter, only to notice today it has little blue flowers! I think it is pentaglottis sempervirens (green alkanet) although I'm not so sure now I've looked at it in detail .. will post a piccie after tea and canvas other folks opinions x Tig

Here is my mystery wild-flower (well I didn't plant it, and weed is not a nice name ) Close up of the flower .. Anyone know for sure what it is - or go along with my first choice, even though the flowers are singles rather than multiples Here is a photo of Green Alkanet I found on the net .. avengerpenguins.co.uk/v-web/gallery/albums/UKFlowers/GreenAlkanet.jpgx Tig

Sorry RF no idea what it is. While we where rescuing a stupid sheep today I spotted this growing where there should be over 5ft of water but seeing as we have had no rain there are alsorts of things growing down there some of it is over 5ft high but has fallen over and it has a square stem with 6 Orchid like flowers around it then a couple of inches higher there are another 6. I have also seem some Woody Nightshade growing down the wall.
