Before your time maybe April, but Harry Secombe was not only one of The Goons and was therefore very often acting silly, but he could also sing. I remember my mother saying that she couldn't enjoy his singing because she expected him to change suddenly into an idiot with a funny voice. I think that is why Catherine Tate isn't suited for the role in Dr Who. I keep expecting her to say "How very dare you" or one of her other famous phrases.

I've been a Dr Who Fan since the very first episode. I was always terrified of cybermen as a child (cos they could climb stairs and COME AFTER YOU)...my favourite 'companion' was 'Liz' Jon Pertwee's scientist side kick...in fact I really liked all the ones with U.N.I.T. (when Dr Who was trapped on Earth)
All the Doctors have their charm, I could take or leave most of the assistants except for K9, Liz & Layla...quite liked the Lala Ward character....the modern Doctors have both been very good once I got used to them...it IS a children's prog really anyway...so I don't expect high drama...I rather like Catherine Tate...it makes a change to have a woman in tow instead of a slip of a girl...and why do they ALWAYS have to have southern accents?....(Jamie the 'Scot' doesn't count cos his accent was about as scottish as mine...and I'm from the midlands) at least she's not panting after him like the last 2 have been...didn't really rate them I'm afraid...and I couldn't understand what Rose was saying most of the time.
I've not really been keen on the way the new doctors have been allowed to lust over their companions...he IS over 900 years old...talk about dirty old man....but he's been led astray by all these panting divas imo. I KNOW he's saving himself for me really ;D ;D

Mine lost interest when Billie left but he perked up again at christmas when Kylie was in it. It dont bother me tho, I get my own back when Hugh Jackman or Matthew McConaghey are on telly!!

Mmmmmmmm Hugh Jackman!!! Which reminds me, I might suggest that we watch Swordfish tonight!!! ;D Do you think this daughter appearing is an excuse for another Dr Who spinoff then?

OI keep your hands of Hugh He is mine (in my head anyway!) Its odd about the daughter, never been mentioned before or even hinted at that I can recall. Probably is another excuse for a spin off. Hope its an improvement on Torchwood. I do like it but John Barrowman is a bit hard to take seriously as an alien fighter, after seeing him flirt with all the contestants on Joseph

Right well I've now caught up with the second part of the series finale. Is Donna out of Dr Who now? And because she's lost her marbles is the Dr now back to normal? I'm confused!! ;D

Well if she remembers anything from her travels with the Dr I think her mind will blow up or something so he's never to see her again so I guess that means she's out of it.
The Dr is now travelling alone again after sending Rose and his half human clone back to the other dimension where they can grow old together etc. I was in heaven at that point, TWO David Tennants <dribble>

Just as I was getting used to Donna. Although she did turn out to be rather like her rude Cockney granny character when she was part time-Lord I know it was rather a lovely thought wasn't it - I thought John Barrowman's "you don't want to know what I'm thinking" comment was excellent ;D

Yeah it was quite a good episode but you knew he would survive cos he met that woman in the future (the library) so I reckon she's gonna be his next companion.

I quite liked her. And I'd forgotten about her in the excitement of the episode! I can't help thinking it's a shame that the daleks are gone though. I grew up with them!!! ;D

You'll see them again... He can go back in time remember! lol
I don't understand that if he can go back in time, why he doesn't and just doesn't stop the other one killing them all.

Because that would spoil all our fun!!! ;D
I can't help thinking that the David Tennant stories have been rather earth-based. I'd like to see more alien planets.

I don't mind so long as they've got David Tennant in them ;D I nearly came to tears when I thought he was gonna regenerate into someone else and then ecstatic when there was 2 of him!!! Yay!!

They should do one where they have ickle Richard Hammond (v, v cute and not unlike David Tennant ) as his brother or something. That would be nearly as good as two DTs!!!
