As there's been a couple of threads into which 'Dr Who' has crept, thought I'd start a new thread for chat about your favourite prog.
I remember the very first Dr Who, William Hartnell who scared me for some reason, or maybe it was the cavemen, dunno! My favourite was Tom Baker, he was just so 'wacky'. ;D
Who's your favourite Dr Who and why?

Oh, definitely Tom Baker!! So wonderfully eccentric! Jon Pertwee wasn't too bad, and William Hartnell was scary!! After Tom, they were all instantly forgettable and I lost interest but I might start again now I've realised how funny it is ;D Who ( ;D ) came between Hartnell and Pertwee? Or is my old memory playing tricks on me?

Is that why you liked him Dr Bill?

Don't remember him that well although I did watch regularly.
Oddly enough I rmemeber the later doctors better because we watched them with the children - Peter Davidson and Colin Baker. Didn't like Syvester McCoy at all - too wierd. And I haven't watched much of the new ones. The Tom Baker Years were while I was away at University so I missed a lot of them but saw them on UK Gold when they were all re-run in the 90s.

I wasn't so keen on Tom Baker for some reason. I think I'll go with our Doctor, Dr Bill, and say Patrick Troughton. Though I like our present one actually. Not so keen on Catherine Tate, because she does her characters a little bit and I keep expecting her to deteriorate into one of them permanently. Good to have it back though. Wish Martha was back with it.

I didnt watch it mostly cos of Cath Tate to be honest I would expect her to accuse the Dr of dissing her

Oooooooooooooooo Just when I had calmed down - you lot set me off again ;D ;D ;D I love Doctor Who, its brilliant saturday tea time telly. Its the only thing we sit together and watch. Even Rebecca dont utter a WORD while its on Not a huge fan of the old stuff really, quite like Jon Pertwee's doctor cos thats the one I remember from being scared witless as a kid. Hated Sylvester McCoy. Thought Christopher Ecclestone was FANTASTIC, but he went David Tennant is the best, he is a wonderful actor, if a little on the skinny side Catherine Tate is no Rose Tyler, but she is not bad at all. She did lapse into a few characters at times but that was alright, just added to the entertainment. Cant wait for next week to see if Rose turns up again and find out what thats all about..............I know I am a 44 year old saddo , Dont care PS. Thanks Shrubrose, sorry if I got a bit carried away last night - I was SOOOOOO excited ;D

There is nothing wrong with David Tennant, he isn't skinny, he's perfect and lovely and gorgeous and I'm going to marry him and have his babies.
OK I'm exaggerating there. But he is well tasty.

I LOVE Dr Who - I think it's the best programme on the TV atm by a mile - it's funny, witty, scary and done with huge dollops of panache and style. Last night's starter was hilarious! My paper said that next week's is even better - so I can't wait! (And I'm 51 Karlslass...... ;D)

I grew up with Tom Baker and used to half watch the scary bits through our mottled glass sitting room door. The episodes always seem to have been so scary, while these days they have mellowed - or is it just me? Then Peter Davison came along and I quite liked him - he was so much younger and more dashing. But I too think David Tennant totally epitomises Dr Who - he's perfect. He has just the right amount of wit, comes across as intelligent, is fit coz he's always dashing all over the place, and there's also room for seriousness. He isn't as frivolous as some of the past doctors, especially the naff ones after Peter Davison.

(And I'm 51 Karlslass...... ;D) You don't look it sweetie Anyway, for me the best Doctor was Jon Pertwee until it was revived with Christopher Eccleston. I thought he was brilliant and wasn't convinced that David Tennant could take over but he's done a pretty good job of it. I haven't seen last night's episode yet. That's tonight's viewing for me. FA x

I was the same FA, I didn't think David Tennant had it, but I guess he proved us all wrong, thing with him is when you see him in something else he isn't Doctor Who. He is a very good (skinny) actor. Lucky you having it too look forward to, think I'll go and have a look on iPlayer see if I can download it ;D

I didn't bother to watch it on Saturday as I thought it wouldn't be so good with Catherine Tate as the new companion. I was going to watch the rerun on BBC 3 tonight but missed the beginning so ended up watching on the iPlayer. Actually it wasn't too bad although the concept of an alien spacecraft over London with no-one so much as batting an eyelid is well past its sell by date. As far as favourite Doctors go, it's a toss up between Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker for me. On reflection I think Jon Pertwee gets the vote. Not forgetting Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart of course.

Always liked Tom Baker - daft as a brush!
But I have to say that I like the current one, can't explain it but (she said looking over her shoulder checking OH isn't watching me post this) I think he may be the most gorgeously perfect man on the planet or any other for that matter! Mmmmm Yum!
Somehow I just managed to regress to age 12 LOL ;D

I'd love to put a twinkle in his eye.... ;D
Seriously though, I wasn't really old enough to watch the other dr whos so I can't really compare them but I think DT was an excellent choice. I like Tom Baker but only because of the Little Britain stuff.
