Got T&M's glossy brochure yesterday - still advertising all the lilies you've had trouble ordering isabella. I like the look of their new poppy Plum Pudding which is supposed to be better than Patty's Plum as the stems are sturdier, the flowers last longer and it doesn't fade.

I bet it's a weeny 9cm plant, isn't it? I get fed up with plug plants and growing them on before I can plant them out, Jasmine. All those Verbascum I got last year are still struggling.

It's getting them through winter as well isn't it Geranium. I tell myself every year that I won't buy plug plants at the end of the summer/autumn.

My whinge is garden-related...Mr. Next Door had left their Christmas tree in their back courtyard. Yesterday he decided to get rid of it at last, and dragged it through the gate and along our path, then off to who knows where. Unfortunately, as you may already know, they have 'right of access' through our garden. I was distinctly irritated to find a thick carpet of pine needles along our path and even on the back doorstep. I felt in a bit of a quandary - whether to confront him about it, or just sigh and clear it up, so I consulted OH. We decided it would be less inflammatory to deal with it ourselves, as things are not 'easy' between us. I do wish we had friendlier and more co-operative neighbours, though! One day I might let rip at him...he never clears up pieces of vegetation he drops on his way through my garden.

I want to get a piece of trellis for the blank wall to match the fence in the back garden, but neither of us can remember the name of the manufacturer, and google searches haven't found anything like it. I'll be soooo frustrated if we can't track it down. I think we'll be ringing the GC where we got it, as their website is USELESS!

I don't know if it's because the last year has been so wet, but we have a new menace in our beds and borders. It starts off tiny, but if unchecked grows to about 3ft tall and spreads outwards too. It is a form of hypericum ( Rose of Sharon)ait has very small yellow flowers, followed by black seedpods which pop and broadcast seed everywhere. I guess it must be a wild/native type and it grows everywhere and anywhere....I have dug up a squillion tons of the stuff this spring...fortunately it isn't too hard to dig out if you get it early enough. Anyone else get this?? I've never seen it before this year.

I think I have one on the wilder end of the stream bank - it's fine there. Does it look anything like this? The berries do go black.

That's it exactly Geranium. I didn't have it until last autumn and now it is everywhere I'm determined to get every bit out. Do you have this Ladygardener?

I can't get the roots of mine out as it's on the stream bank, but I shouldn't imagine they're too deep, Auricula.

Warning - yet another T & M whinge about to appear! I bought two bareroot magnolia Sunrise which arrived on 6th March, got both planted out, although even at the time I wasn't convinced they were the same plant. Today one has flowered, no way is it Sunrise! I've taken a photo and will post it shortly so that others may be able to assist in identifying it. The second one is looking more and more like a Susan!!!

Oh dear mind you, Susan is very nice, but not if you ordered Sunrise I don't have enough room for a magnolia...where are you putting yours Tig ?

I've already got a mature 'Susan' Auricula, I didn't want another But I'll wait until it opens it's buds to be sure. This is the one that has flowered, I know what I think it is, but would be interest to here other folks ideas ... They've both been planted down the right side of the back garden, by the time they become mature I doubt I'll be around Susan isn't a particularly tall variety anyway.

Oh dear T&M are rubbish, they most likely think a lot of people don't know the difference between one thing and another. They're right in this case about the Magnolia, I don't have a clue. I'm sure you'll email them Tig.
