I have to say that my experience with buying from Parkers is worse than from T & M. Lots of things I've bought in the past either were dead when they arrived or didn't grow into what they were supposed to be. I think it was the year before last when I'd ordered an iris collection and two of the four were mouldy and rotting on arrival. I did get replacements, but even they didn't turn out to be the 'named' varieties I'd bought. I also bought bare root hardy geraniums, they were so dried up they didn't stand a chance really, I should have complained about those too, but I didn't, just won't be ordering from them again. Glad you eventually got a refund Ladygardener - well done for your persistence

The things these companys will say to get out from under, do you remember my trouble with Matthewmanns last year, they shouldn't mess with GWD'ers should they.
Babyswan, that's a shame about your fork.

Thanks Barbara Jasmine Tig I really did have a bit of a fight on my hand with them and won't be ordering from them again. That's J. Parker and T&M off my list now. Barbara remind me what it was with Matthewmanns last year.

No swwet peas LG the lady said I'd probably either had them too long, or kept them too warm or anything else that was my fault, I wouldn't give up either and after about 4 e-mails they sent me come fresh seeds, 84 seeds I sowed initially, I have to be honest though, they were wonderful when I finally got them to grow.

It's interesting how these plant sellers treat folk. Back in the autumn Jilly and I bought the same coreopsis from Haylofts. They turned out to be completely the wrong colour - deep red instead of orange. I got a lecture on light levels changing the colours of plants, Jilly didn't get a lecture at all and we're both due to get replacements when they've got more. They do have a no quibble guarantee...no quibbling then!!!! I wonder if these companies realise the 'press' they get on gardening forums and how many folk are put off from one persons bad experience.

I am trying to contact a highly regarded Nursery - visits by appointment only - I don't know if you've heard of it. It's Junker's and they are based in Tiverton, Devon. I bought my silver birches and a fabulous Ligustrum lucidum from her a few years ago. Now I want to buy a Liquidamber and a Cornus fom her, but she prefers emails...BUT the email address on the website won't work! I could scream because the site also says that they dig the trees up from October to early March, and it's very tight for timing. I'm going to phone her tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

Barbara they're very famous for their sweetpea that's for sure. You should'nt have to fight them for what you're due. Jasmine I do remember you and Jilly and your problem with the Hayloft problem. I hope you both get the ones you ordered this year. Geranium, hope you get through today and get your order in. It'll be a while before I order online for plants again although I am waiting for an order from Haylofts.

What email addy were you using Geranium? Just had a quick look and note that they moved in 2011 and have a new email addy karan@junker.co.uk Could be that she doesn't respond to emails over the weekend and her inbox is full. They also had a new phone number, not sure if it is the one you have 01823 400075.

Yes, I tried that one Tig, as well as the other one on the catalogue. I knew they were moving - when we bought the silver birches and Ligustrum, the Nursery was in the grounds of their house and Karan Junker showed us the trees growing in her garden - what a good way of selling! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she'll agree to sell me the trees I'd really like. I can't find them anywhere else! Did you look at her catalogue? I think 'comprehensive' is the word for it.

Tig - Thank you so much for finding Thornhayes! The White Post Nursery is pretty useless (I've been there!) but I'd forgotten about Thornhayes, and according to their catalogue, they have both trees. If Junkers can't help, at least I have a second chance of getting them.

Tig, even better news - I rang Thornhayes and pre-ordered them, as their advice is that the Cornus shouldn't be planted before bud-break. That givees me the time I need to get the area clear and prepared. They only had two Liquidamber 'Lane Roberts' left anyway - so my name is on one of them. Thanks again!

The Cezanne,Monet and Picasso arrived on Tuesday - well nearly - they were Picasso,Miss Lucy and Innocent Girl!!!
This morning 3 boxes arrived
I opened the first box which was marked collection of 20 Lilies - inside was an apology,£5.00 voucher and 20 bulbs of Lily China Girl.
I opened the second box which was marked African Queen x3bulbs - inside was an apology,£5.00 voucher and 20 bulbs of Lily China Girl.
I opened the third box which was marked Big Brother x6 bulbs - inside was an apology,£5.00 voucher and you've guessed - 20 bulbs of Lily China Girl.

Oh Pam, that's just not on is it!!! T & M I assume? Although you would have a stunning display of China Girl with that many bulbs Have you contacted them? I would think a full refund is in order considering how many they've failed to supply. Edit - I've just looked and they are still advertising the Crystal Collection of tree lilies! (with Cezanne and Monet)

Oh dear isabella that's rubbish. It can be accepted that one variety could be changed but from the sounds of things the only thing they sent that you actually ordered was Picasso. I'd get in touch with them and say you insist on a refund. I too am guessing it's either T&M or J. Parkers.

A similar thing happened with a wallflower collection I got from T&M the other year isabella , you're absolutely entitled to a refund, I read that in Gardening Which when they did their report on mail order plants. I got a full refund in the end and got to keep all the plants too, as they were still offering the collection on the web site. China Girl is a very pretty lilly but it's not even the right colour as a replacement for African Queen, I told them I had very little space & needed plants of a specific colour (I was telling a bit of a porkie there to be honest) but you can quite rightly say that you open your garden and had a colour scheme planned.

I did phone them- T & M and Van Meuwen - same company really - and told them how unhappy I am I also mentioned about opening our garden. I paid good money for the bulbs - the young fella I spoke to has lodged a complaint for me and has promised to phone me back .......we will see Some of the bulbs were ordered in November and some in January. I am still feeling annoyed !! As you say Jilly China Girl is lovely- but it would be about 12 pots of them - bit much really .I wouldn't mind 1 or 2 pots

Pam, that is so rubbish! I have searched high and low for Lily Miss Lucy and T&M's site says it doesn't have it this year!!!! Hope you get a refund, you could sell the bulbs at your open day although that doesn't help you with your planting scheme

Jasmine - when I spoke to VM /T&M I was told that Monet and Cezanne were the same varieties as Miss Lucy and Innocent Girl That doesn't make sense though Pam does it? Lily Miss Lucy is about 3ft high and Monet and Cezanne are tree lily size or am I getting muddled? Thanks for the link Tig.

No, I wasn't getting muddled - have just ordered 3 Miss Lucy bulbs which will grow to 100cm tall - Tig - you are an absolute

I had a phone all this afternoon - the Lilies I ordered aren't available . Instead I will now be sent 2 collections of Leopard Lily varieties,I can keep the China Girls and the £5.00 vouchers and will get a refund for the Lilies I had ordered from Van Meuwens. Apparently there have been loads of problems with Lilies because of the bad weather last year - well knowing the problems I had I can believe that.

Are you happy with the offer of the Leopard lilies Pam, if so that sounds like a result although you are going to have a lot of China Girl! They really ought to sort out their websites though so you can't order the lilies they don't have.
Just googled China Girl - it is pretty!

The leopard lilies are very striking - google Van Meuwen to see them I am on my iPad so can't post a link . I would rather have had the other Lilies but as you say the China Girl are pretty and I am satisfied with the way my complaint has been dealt with
