I have had fast and efficient service from Tesco Direct and Keengardener Ltd. Also special praise for Hozelock who identified the model of my pond filter from an emailed photograph because I didn't know the model number, and sent me the correct part very quickly

I have had great success with quite a few internet companies, though not all garden related. For plants, Crocus have been great, they arrive in superb condition. For birdfood, CJ Wild Birdfoods give excellent service For pet food, Bestpet is very quick, and also supply medicines. For tools and a wide range of electricals, Toolbank Express. And Amazon, I'm a great fan.
Actually, I seem to be lucky, because I buy fabric, wool, art and craft materials online too, and I am always amazed at how quickly the orders arrive.

Amazon deliver partly thru Royal Mail and partly thru TNT (I think). Every morning I have to scan the Amazon stuff in and put it out for delivery that day. Enthralling job lol

Our postman! He is brilliant - even signs for things if we aren't in so we don't have to go trogging off miles to reclaim a parcel. (Maybe he isn't suposed to do that but I am always grateful!)

I'm a bit of an Amazon fan too - I've never had a problem with them. Crocus are excellent too.
I must just say a quick positive word about a young man at Tesco today, and it is rare for me to say something positive about Tesco I can tell you! I nipped in to get milk and bread, but found two bottles of Organic milk were four days past their best by date. I went to find someone but of course there wasn't anyone in the dairy section, so I went over to cold meat. The man there went to find the dairy chap, and when I explained about the milk he instantly went to investigate. I checked up on him too!!!
I must also commend Waitrose. At the weekend we bought some fruit drinks for LP but when we got home we found they were dated December 2007. I phoned them up and asked that they check their stocks because other customers might not check the dates. We went back to Waitrose the next day and not only was the shelf devoid of fruit drinks, but we were given double our money back!

Amazon are great, never had any problems with them even at Christmas. I am also fairly chuffed with Lloyds Bank at the moment , they have a text service, where they will text you if you are over or near your limit and you have until 15.30 that day to pay money in (if you need to) and you dont get bank charges - Brilliant Idea and it has saved me a small fortune. So well done to them for that ;D

Enthralling job lol I remember when one of the Harry Potter books was coming out, early 2000s, we had squillions at SHCDC (Southern Home Counties - all of Surrey, E & W Sussex, and half of Hants) and they had to kept padlocked in a trailer so there was no chance of anyone touching one before midnight!! And then a big scramble to get them sorted and out to the delivery offices for the morning

OMG that sounds like a nightmare Spruance. I hope things are better by now and the job is finished - properly. My neighbour got some guys round to have his cavity walls done and they refused to do it - something to do with an air vent in the way oh poor you Spru..... Ditto! Have they gone yet Spru? I posted on the Whinge thread earlier about my cavity wall insulation experiences, but having seen them working valiantly on today, I think that praise rather than criticism is called for. They finally left at 16:30, although by that time I was beginning to feel rather sorry for them. All things considered they did a very good job in difficult circumstances. I said 'men' earlier but actually I was quite surprised at how young they were do be doing this sort of work on their own. It turned out that they were brothers, but I would guess that the oldest was not much more than 22 making his brother 19 since they were three years apart. Apart from short breaks for two cups of tea each, and biscuits, supplied by us I didn't see them stop once for a lunch break, even though at times it was raining heavily. The living room vent was fitted expertly and efficiently and the small amount of internal mess was swept and vacuumed up. They also made a very good job of cleaning up outside, and most importantly of all cleared away the excess rockwool material that had leaked into the loft itself. They happened to mention as they were leaving that they were paid per job rather than per hour so because through no fault of theirs our house took all day, they have effectively been working for the equivalent of £5/hour. I always dread having workmen in the house, but despite the total upheaval everything has gone perfectly well. The two lads simply got one with things and whether it was because they were brothers or not I don't know, they seemed to work very well together. Oh, and no blaring radio or music of any kind which is usually par for the course. I am usually a very critical customer, so for me to be satisfied on completion of the work is a rare event indeed. Consequently I would be more than happy to recommend Miller Pattison of Biggleswade to anyone seeking to have cavity wall insulation installed.

We even had special stickers to stick on the "while you were out" cards indicating it was a Harry Potter book. They were bloomin heavy and of course no one was in

Thank godness for that Sprue!! I do feel sorry for the people they had to cancel the afternoon appointment with though. That's usually me after waiting in most of the day! Yes my lovely postie signs if we're not in either, but he goes and hides it up in the greenhouse and I have a blank piece of paper by the door so I know something is up there. And, although I am a huge fan of Amazon and have personally had nothing to complain about in 9 years, my daughter has just been diddled of £140 for an i-pod she was trying to buy through one of the Amazon 'shops'. It didn't turn up and there started to be negative messages left against the seller. She will hopefully get her money back on 1st May, a long time for a yongster!!

I'm so glad it got finished ok Spruance.
I've got another person to praise - my friend who fitted my new doors on Wednesday. I know people say don't employ friends to do work, but C was brilliant. He worked hard, drank his tea while working rather than stopping for breaks, cleared up beautifully, and I felt comfortable leaving him with a key to lock up when he'd finished because I had to go and collect LP from school.

Can I sing the praises of the carpet cleaning firm who did my lounge carpet yesterday? i won second prize in a local newpaper comp and they did one room up to the value of about £70.00.
The chap arrived on time (I was 5 mins late!), explained what he was going to do and did the whole room including treating a couple of stains in about half an hour. They even sprayed some sort of deoderiser that smelt like bubblegum!!
The chap was East European I think, spoke very good english, well presented and a credit to the company, and bought his tea cup back to the kitchen!
