Watch it doesn't get too cold overnight Jenny or that will definitely finish them off after they have been fried on the window sill x Tig

Oh Dear just brought them in and I think they have all died Am going to have to start again from scratch I am so sorry Jen about your Morning Glory. I boiled mine to death in the mini greenhouse. I took yours and Tigs advice and planted another lot - some Grandpa Potts and some Dwarf mixed and the seedlings popped up within a few days. They are on a small table inside by my french doors, but I will keep them inside for a while cos it has really got cold here in London. It has rained all day! PJ

They seem ok this morning but the two outside leaves still frazzled but the inner one coming thru looks ok (ish) will pot them on today and see what happens and then sow some more Dont think I am going to win who gets theirs to flower first - or even grow at this rate

For the first time ever I didn't sow any Morning Glories really early in the year (Jan/Feb : but forgot them entirely until a couple of weeks ago..and I have to say, they look much better for it! I usually lose some and the rest end up looking proper sickly and are all tangled up with each other. I hope they'll flower much better than usual too - often I don't get any flowers until really late. I always assumed they were just struggling to survive so didn't get into gear until the summer was nearly over, so these late sowings might do better.....that's the theory anyway! ;D

I'll ditto that 4P. Mine last year were terrible and am hoping sowing late, like this weekend will bring better results. If I remember right I bought some different ones to try.

I have treid these for the last 5 years and STILL can't succeed !! They all germinate very quickly, but then just as quickly die. Have tried soaking and not soaking, keeping in the greenhouse (mini) and planting in the ground. I am determined to get some somehow. this year they were doing really well, then I went away for 4days and when I came back...........nothing!!

Been interesting reading this thread. I tried Morning Glory last year and was somewhat disappointed with the results. Got the initial growth but they died a death once I put them in the ground. This year I've had bit more luck but I don't know what I've done differently except this year I decided to put them in pots on the patio so they could benefit from the sun we get from the afternoon onwards. Not looking too bad... One thing that does worry me though. The leaves and climbing aspect are very, very similar to knotweed. The flowers are similar as well...

Soaked mine on Wednesday and sowed them on Thursday. All saved seed so there will be two sorts, Heavenly Blue and a darker blue one that my neighbour gave me. Those look fab specimines DG, if the flowers are as good as the foilage you will be in for a good show in that pot

One thing that does worry me though. The leaves and climbing aspect are very, very similar to knotweed. The flowers are similar as well... Don't you mean BINDweed DG? ( Knotweed is that nasty Japanese monster). Obviously they are very closely related, but Morning Glory is MUCH easier to kill

Isn't it horrible when you've grown something and it looks fine Then you plant it out and it starts to die and you panic and think "Not enough water? Or has it had too much? More feed? What's the matter with it? ?" And it doesn't matter what you do it just fades away and you still don't really know why...... Such a bummer

( Knotweed is that nasty Japanese monster). Obviously they are very closely related, but Morning Glory is MUCH easier to kill You got me. Yes, I did indeed mean bindweed...I must've left my weeding glasses in the shed when I posted that one... If ity's any consolation, my other pot of MGs are not looking so well and the leaves are starting to yellow so I think they might be a goner. I was doing one pot of blue and one pot of crimson. Don't remember which variety is in which pot though, I'm a bit haphazard with my labelling.
