They have their uses occasionally - mine is great if there is an emergency electrical or plumbing problem - not much use on a day to day basis I must admit, apart from being an expert in getting under my feet, making a noise when he should be quiet and regularly getting on my nerves by talking through news items I am trying to listen to.

I suppose they come in handy for the lifting and digging but that's about it. Not so much a bad week as a bad life ! I give up with them, it's not worth the hassle

Well, mine is taking me out to lunch today, and to an open garden, so I forgive him for any transgressions this week.

Well, had there been another sex I would have married it !!
However there ain't and being alone and lonely are two different things totally....you will just have to find one with as less annoying habits as possible - bit of a tall order though or start buying from Beate Uhse - hahaha...!!

I don't mind being alone. I just don't like the assumption that being alone = desperate. Bloody cheek !!

Well, we don't think like that, prodigal gardener. Do people try to set you up with prospective partners?

OH opened the blinds in the kitchen just as it was getting light and we were faced with a lovely picture... Someone has thrown an egg at our window...can't say that I am very amused, to put it mildly...!! It must have been last night as the white is dry - going to be hell to get off that's for sure. RF

The next whinge is that getting egg off a window is a hell of a job - the white had dried which made it worse - if I find out who did it then there will be trouble...!!

Oh no Rosefriend what an absolute pain... have you got any suspects? No, not really Jilly - we rang the Police and asked if anyone else had had problems. There was an incredible mess here with people for and against a firm building a chicken factory and we were for it...we didn't hide our views and OH thinks that it might have been one of the "against" people on the road but I doubt it really, although tempers were running very high!! My own personal feeling is that it is the new people next door, the 9 year old girl who I reckon needs a good spanking. OH asked the mother to clear the leaves as we were getting them back and she was fine and said she would, - well she still hasn't but the girls face was one of pure hate and I have seen her in the garden getting nearer and nearer my garden with her bloody football....she hides behind a bush and things like that. I have to say that she has one of those faces that I could swipe as soon as I see her!! However we didn't see anyone and it hasn't happened to anyone else. I just hope nothing does happen and we haven't upset anyone as far as we know. The Police have said to ring again if we get another mess...I do so hope we don't!! RF

I hope so too Rosefriend. I'm well aware what it's like to have revolting children next door (at least you've only got the one, I had a tribe ). The best one was finding one of the girls in my front garden picking flowers . At least these neighbours are only renting aren't they?

The best one was finding one of the girls in my front garden picking flowers . At least these neighbours are only renting aren't they? Yes they are only renting and boy am I glad about that.... She (mother) is a lazy so and so - can't even be bothered to bring her dustbin back in until days afterwards, doesn't sweep the pavement which is a sort of must here. We are all interested to see what happens in the winter as you must clear the snow away from your pavement area (autumn the leaves as they are slippery) and she was told that although the owner couldn't stop the daughter playing football in the garden, he hoped that respect would be given to us and not to do it...waste of breath. In summer they BBQ and have friends around each weekend - throw logs onto the grill so that we can't have windows open...etc etc That girl is a little devil...gawd help her if I catch her in my garden - it will take me all my willpower not to wring her bloody neck!! Oh dear Rosefriend, I've just seen this. That girl sounds like a right horrible little brat. The mother does'nt sound like she's too bothered about how things should be kept. Dreadful to have as neighbours from the sounds of things. It must have given you and OH a right shock to see the egg on the window!! It's a bit of a coincidence having it done not long after you've asked the neighbour to clean up the leaves....... If the dispute about the chicken factory was a while ago, they've taken their time to react and why single your home out?.. On balance it sounds like it could be the little brat from next door.

It's a wonder you didn't hear it splatter when it hit the glass RF if it was the young girl from next door? Surely she wouldn't be out late at night

Well the only thing that did make me smile was OH when he said - it was a bird - damn big bird !! As you say they have taken their time if it was the chicken factory thing and the Police said that there were a lot of eggs thrown for Halloween but that has also been and gone!! It's a wonder you didn't hear it splatter when it hit the glass RF if it was the young girl from next door? Surely she wouldn't be out late at night We did hear something but actually thought it was the lid of her wheely bin and that was just before 8pm - as the mother lets her stay up until midnight and longer it isn't late of course... We have now left the blinds up and also left the front door unlocked - my camera is ready and we have made it known that we have informed the Police and also a night vision video has been fitted. Aldi actually had one on offer a couple of weeks ago so not so daft as it sounds!! What has upset me more than anything is that OH was so angry that he had heart problems and breathing problems again - that I won't accept. I just hope that it was a one off from "whoever"!! Bet we are awake at the slightest sound tonight.. RF

Hope it was a one off Rosefriend. What a horrid thing to happen. Kids used to do it as the 'trick' part of treat or treat when we lived in London. It's murder to get off once it dries.

I hope you slept OK RF, and I hope it was a one off as well, have you managed to clean it yet ? To be honest we didn't get much sleep, I ended up dozing off in the early hours but OH was pacing for most of the night. Main thing is nothing happened - I do so hope it really is a one off, at least nothing happened last night. We cleaned the window but saw last night that we haven't got it totally clean - I was on the web looking for tips but I seem to have done them all - vinegar, soap, alcohol - I do wonder if the water was too hot and we cooked the damn stuff!! If anyone has any ideas do let me know please... RF

Relieved to hear you didn't have a repeat performance RF, perhaps the warning about the cameras was heeded! If the window is just a bit streaky maybe just another clean with a proprietary window cleaner will remove the remainder. If there is still some dried egg on the glass a wallpaper scraper or razor blade may get it off first then clean it again.

The problems seems to be that is it all smeary - the shine has gone from a couple of places....think there might still be a very thin film there. I will get some window cleaner and try that... RF

Oh Rosefriend I'm so sorry you and OH have been so upset by likely a little hoodie. What a silly thoughtless prank. When we were young "paddy knock knock" was popular - you ring a doorbell and run away, it's only now I realise how awful that must have been for some people.

Thanks theinsidegardener - I think we have all played pranks in our young days - must admit that these days things like this are hard work and cost energy that my OH doesn't really have. He insisted on cleaning the window as it is still "his" job but he had to stop for pauses and wouldn't let me help...!! I just hope it is a prank and not someone that has taken a dislike to our faces !! RF

I'm just off the phone from Virgin Media, Richard was busy so I spoke to someone in India instead. They're sending an engineer out on Tuesday morning to fix my wireless router which is only giving intermittent coverage to the internet at the moment. If I'm not around too much, be sure I'm thinking of you all and trying not to crack up because I can't get online.
