Welcome to the second round of voting for GWD "Best in Show"... Below, in no particular order, are the top eleven entries as voted by a huge turnout of Members - eleven not ten due to 'ties' - and this poll will be open until around midnight Sunday 12th to determine the overall winner. You have just one vote, so enjoy spending it! RF/OM These are your "Highly Commended". Well done entrants - you know who you are... i have voted for the one i like the best, difficult to choose really as my first vote didn't get into this round the veg display and the basket the same veg or is it me, is it the same person. i saw somewhere else about people voting for themselves, would people on here really do that, they are pretty low if they do

I have got over the fact that none of my stupendous efforts got through ;D (not that I expected them to) and am astonished at the quality of the final entrants...they have all done very well...and OF COURSE I'M NOT BITTER! stamps into the kitchen...slams door.

Everyone who entered was a winner IMHO There were loads of brilliant goodies shared by members who participated (and I include my own efforts in that as well) I didn't expect to win but I have never ever been so excited waiting to see the results But then I've never entered anything in a Village Show before ;D I wouldn't have dreamt of voting for the photos I entered Blacky - it would feel like cheating somehow x Tig

It's they way they are 'polished', presented and tied, really puts me in mind of someone who is serious about this and enters official real time shows. Not really what I had in mind for a bit of fun on a forum but there you go. I hope this becomes part of our forum year and, if so, everyone will have a fair chance, even against those who do it seriously in the real world!! ;D Mind you, I'm still trying to decide........ ;D

I think it's nice that we have some people on here who obviously 'know what they're doing'. Next year, as we all get better at this gardening/growing lark...we'll all be BRILLIANT!...you never know...we may well need to have a 'most unusually shaped vegetable' and 'Novice Class' (both of which I'm more likely to enter than the top notch show-veg ;D)

I never realised the veg were from the same people, until you guys mentioned it, and then I saw the room was the same! ;D It doesn't really matter to me though if some are more 'professional' than others. They are all brilliant in my eyes, and if some people are experts, then to have them on board on the site can't be a bad thing, can it? I didn't submit an entry btw. And it's the first year for this isn't it? So everyone knows what they are up against next year! ;D Just a thought - maybe it's worth having ornamental and edible separate winners in the future?

Yep...these entries are smashing imo. People have gone to a great amount of trouble to present their offerings as well as they can. I'm already quite fired up about NEXT year's compy! Inspiring they are...well done.

My 'Mouse' has been going backwards and forewards to make the comparisons--and it does look like the same BUT surely it couldn't be-- If they are the same it has caused some interest and intrigue. My entries didn't get into the Finals but I am not bothered-it was the 'taking part' that was the fun. I look forward to next year's Virtual Village Show.--Bigs

they are the same, same curtains as well. ;D It doesn't matter does it? we actually voted for them...so if some of us preferred the basket and others the more traditional table setting that's fine. Whoever entered them has every right to be very pleased with their splendid efforts. So I am in awe. ;D

I have finally voted and it was a very hard decision not just in this poll but the other 2 aswell. Well done all - they were all splendid entries Looking foward to next yext year. Like someone else suggested can I second it and we have a poll for flowers and a poll for veg next year please. Can I also say that it would have been good to keep the poll secret until the very end. I forgot to say a 'Very Big Thank You' to Admin for organising this event. Ali.

Wonderful....... had a job choosing. Well done and thank you to everyone for taking part and organising. Fantastic pics. I agree with the idea of having flowers and veg separate next year please ..... it was really hard deciding between a feast for the eyes or stomach..... I love both. ffx FFx

Well done the basket of veg, or owner/grower of I should say! ;D I wish the veg box delivery man would take note and do mine that polished.
And thanks to all who voted for my cosmos! I'm absolutely gobsmack! I just saw the three growing close like that and thought it was pretty so went to take them indoors, then I thought to take the photo.
Next year deffo needs sub categories, there was so much to choose from!!

So, we have a Winner... from 62 entries and 395 votes cast we arrived at our "Highly Commended". The growers concerned have every right to be proud of their produce and we're sure they won't mind us listing them now: Alicat, Amo, Bagpuss, Carolann, Dutchy, Farmesboy, Isabella Tig, Snowowl. Well done to all of you!
In fact, while thanking all entrants again for their support in entering we'd like to list them too - but having offered a degree of anonymity to encourage non-partisan voting, will leave it to you all to "self-declare" in this thread if you wish... you might have some post-poll fun guessing who entered what...
But, our worthy winner with a total of 17 votes from 46 cast is... Isabella!!
Very well done to her, it was a tour de force of an entry and, please, get in touch with your choice of prize - it'll be a pleasure to arrange delivery!
RF/OM
ps we have seen the suggestions for a re-run next year and take them on board, as ever. Please use this thread for ongoing discussion, which we'll join in.

Well done Isabella Now if you could just give me a few tips on how to grow a basket of veg like yours - I'd be eternally grateful ;D I would like to thank everyone who voted for my Squash Tray Having never entered any produce into a show before I was heaving with pride when it got through to the Highly Commended stage (not least because I soo wanted the clem Rebecca - I blame Plocket for my latest addiction ) My other entries were the vase of multi-coloured sunflowers and the broad beans on blue background - thanks again for your votes! x Tig

I am so chuffed to have won ;D ;D ;D Thankyou very, very much to everyone who voted for my veggies - I appreciate it so much ;D ;D ;D We only ever enter one flower show- the one in our local village but this year we couldn't enter as we were on holiday So I had the run of the veggie garden to choose from and had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon choosing, preparing and arranging them ;D ;D ;D I did the table first and then remembered I had a large basket in the loft! It was really good fun arranging them in the basket ;D I just wanted to show everyone how beautiful home-grown veggies are ;D ;D ;D I must just say I was a little bit upset about some of the comments posted Will I enter again - not sure at the moment Anyway thankyou so much again ;D Love Pam x
