Yes Tig we have tried putting him socks on to stop him licking his paws but they are soon off. We have been to the health food shop today and bought some marigold cream. Its for dry skin conditions and sore skin so i will give alternative medicine a go. Any thing made from flowers has to be good.

Last time we saw the vet last week he was pleased with how charlies skin had improved. He felt his liver and found no growth swelling so that may be a good sign. Hes of his cushings tablets now altogether has this was giving him his skin problems. Hes still a little tender under his pads and he sleeps a lot but hes in no discomfort apart from his feet. The vet also says there is no point in any more blood tests charlie will be pleased with that. So hes letting things lie at the moment with regards to his liver. He is on a constant suplie of antbiotics because liver patients pic up viruises easy. He sees him twice a month now just to keep a check on things so we take 1 day at a time and as long as charlies happy so are we The marigold cream softens his pads but isnt a miracle cure. But to say its 7 months ago he had a scan and we found out about the nodular mass i think hes doing ok so far.

Charlie still doing not bad.We did have to take him to the vet again because his skin was bothering him again. I have got on top of it with the help of E45 cream from the vets advice and its worked wonders on him. Hes had a hair cut today and bathed his face and paws and put his cream on and hes sleeping now. Its hard to keep him cool in this weather we have fans on in every room. But hes still ploding along and looking better.I know hes still got a chronic liver problem but he is ok for now. I take each day as it comes and if charlies happy so am i.

I am so sorry to hear about your lovely looking dog's health problems - and yours too. I can just imagine how you must be feeling - we had a scare with our schnauzer but, more luckily for us - she was OK and I remember how my, normally, taciturn Scottish husband was weeping with relief - and me too. It may sound trite but I suppose the only thing to say is to enjoy the time you have with your dog. Kindest regards. Francegarden

Thought i would give you an update on Charlie. Hes still going even though its 2 years now since the first time he saw the vet with his liver. Hes still having real bad skin problems and its been a struggle to keep on top of it his paws are the worst. But hes still eating and plays when he feel like it. His tummy is large now and i dont know what to expect but at the moment hes fairly good he hasnt seen the vet in months which is a good thing. I take everday has a bonus but 2 years ago i didnt expect to still have him so things are good.

He has done really well Snowy, must be a tough little chap to battle on with all the problems he's had to cope with and yet he can still be playful at times All you can do is your best for him and take every day as it comes. He is a very lucky dog to have someone who loves and cares for him so much x Tig
