Another programme I'll be watching on Iplayer ;D I managed to watch the winter episode of Life in a cottage garden today. Thoroughly enjoyed it, the only bit that went on a bit was the hedge laying, I love to see a well laid hedge and it's nice to see old fashioned trades still going but it became a bit boring. Like Tig I made notes ;D so learnt something

The hort channel is only available through some Sky packages I understand. David, you know you're Christine's no 1 fan really - all those glowing posts you wrote about her on the BBC boards ;D ;D Can't stand MD but will watch GW notwithstanding - can't wait to get back out in the garden

Yes, I was a bit unkind I know, but she went up in my estimation when she visited the beeb's boards to wish me a happy birthday one year. I thought, what a good sport and she seemingly shares my SOH & doesn't bear grudges.....anyway, water under the bridge & all that! Just to even up the balance, Carol Klein took the trouble to thank me on her blog for supporting her over the past few years.

How long has Beechgrove Potting shed been on the TV? I listen to it as a podcast and had assumed it was a radio programme.

Hi totp hope all is well with you. Beechgrove gardens has been on TV for a few years that I know of. I would'nt miss it and think it's great. As it's on BBC Scotland I can only watch it because I have cable. I don't know if you can watch it on a computer. I must take a google and see what Beechgrove Potting shed is.

Beechgrove Potting shed is just radio totp. I've just looked on bbc IPlayer for Beechgrove Garden and it lists tv episodes from 2007-2010 but they are no longer available to watch

MD was on breakfast tv and I caught him as I checked the weather forecast. Looks like we're going to see an overview of his garden which will be good - I never did understand where things were in relationship to each other at Greenacres. Apparently he has 2 acres ( so, not so much a garden - more an estate) He bought it when he was poor ( he says).......I wouldn't mind being poor if I could afford a huge house and 2 acres.............he doesn't know what poor is!!!!!!!

Wish I had a garden like Monty! All that space - his potting shed looked bigger than my garden.

Have just watched for the first time in ages a wonderful GW with the lovely Monty Don back in harness Just watched it too. So much more interesting than the last series. I visited Anglesey Abbey Gardens last year and was really impressed with them. I must admit I was a little surprised that Monty's garden was so full of topiary - thought it would be more wild and not so formal. We'll see how it changes as the months go by.

I can't stand Monty Don - smug and patronising!!!!!!!! Did watch the programme though, and will watch the series as it is the only gardening programme on Freeview. Reserving judgement at the moment - why a model and garden designer were humping mulch around an NGS gardener's plot was a bit mystifying Was surprised how formal MD's garden is.

I thought it was interesting that he downplayed the vegetables in his garden and made a point about flowers being the show centre of his garden. I was surprised how uninteresting his garden was. Not much in the way of things growing or any colour in it at the moment. I thought the winter gardens that Carol visited were wonderful, those silver birch trees were really spooky but in a good way. Sorry if all this sounds a bit negative but I did'nt find it at all inspiring this week.
