I quite enjoyed the programme and liked his garden aswell, i too was surprised at how formal it was. I liked seeing the layout of it because it'll help bring his work into context each week - a bit like Alan Titchmarshes garden each week, you could get a feel for whereabouts he was, in it.

Yes, I liked that too Louisa. It's just Moga Don himself I can't take to - it's his faux soothing tone I think

I do too, even when it's not that interesting I still would'nt stop watching it. I'm looking forward to the Beechgrove garden starting 4th April. I like the format of it and they're all so down to earth.

I've always liked Monty - there are so many presenters we dont see much of anymore - what on earth happened to Simon Harrison-Knibbs I dont partic like Rachel but not sure if a bit of jealousy but cant be doing with Gushing Carole and not sure about Joe either Monty and Christine together would make an interesting if strange mix ;D Havent been watching GW for ages but am back now

Oh yes, I'd forgotten that. I quite liked those programmes he and Carole did on the NGS gardens, there must be scope to do more of them - and even vary the format a bit

I have to tell I wasn't keen, and all those box balls I will probably watch the series but I'm not a fan of Monty either, he was on the news 2 weeks ago saying we should all buy organic carrots even if we have to pay double, some people just can't afford to but he was banging on about it saying we can't afford not to.

I really don't like people who ram these things down your throat. They're so hard to listen to and I do wonder what world they live in, it must be very different to mine. Beechgrove is mostly veg but they do flowers too. Pity you can't get it Auricula and Geranium. It's because I have Virgin TV I can get BBC Scotland. I watched all those NGS programmes and enjoyed them. They put such a lot of hard work into getting things just right for the opening.

I'm not a Monty fan, and thought the first tour of his garden was a bit boring, but then most gardens are a bit boring at this time of year. I did like the visit to the NGS garden and thought the lady was very brave to be opening this weekend. I love Carol Kleins enthusiasm for all things 'growing' and she talks to people in a very natural way, unlike Monty who comes across as a bit condescending at times I enjoyed the section on Anglesey Abbey, and it inspired me to go and cut back the cornus Must check and see if I can get BBC Scotland on Freesat - I'd enjoy Beechgrove - I like my veggies and my flowers, and my bulbs, and my shrubs, and my trees and anything that grows (apart from weeds and pests!) ;D x Tig x Tig

Well I really enjoyed the new G.W. from Monty,s garden, I happen to think he is lovely, he is a basically a shy person I think ;D its probably because he reminds me of one of my Sons that I dont feel he is patronising, he explains things very well I thought, even though he has overdone the hedging and the box balls Im not sure what he was doing there. Im looking forward to seeing the garden over the next few months, at least it is real not like the last one which wasnt very convincing at all as being someones garden! it was very contrived . Carol cant do wrong in my eyes either ;D she is everyones next door neighbour I did like her garden as well although it wasnt at all like anything in my neighbourhood. I always have to watch it on catchup on a Sun; morning as O.H. has control of t.v at that time of night after I have watched the soaps. I did like the fact that he tells you he bought lime tree,s for 99p each or a hedge that he bought second hand which he transported in his car that is my kind of bargain hunting, anyone can go to a garden centre and pile plants on as I have seen Rachel do! all you need is pots of money.!!!

I must admit I'm not a big fan of Monty Don, but will give him a chance to convince me, now that he's doing the programme from his own garden. The biggest fear is that he will concentrate too much on veggie growing and ramming his own opinions on all things organic, down our throats!!...I quite enjoyed the first programme....so I will see as we go along.......must admit the box balls were a bit "ott"....as well as all the hedging, which I thought was a bit on the high side; but there again, thats just my opinion i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/wink.gif I noticed he let slip that he did occasionally buy multi-purpose compost.....at one time he would not have admitted this at all; and I read somewhere that he never goes into garden centres i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/embarassed.gif

Well that is probably why I like him G.C. are far too expensive I like the small nurseries that dont sell alll the other stuff that has me spending on things I didnt go in for!! I dont mind being organic either!! much better than spraying all these chemicals ! I hope he doesnt spend too much time on veggies though Im aftaid Im not known for my veggy growing. ;D
