I'm with everyone apart from Jenny. I find Moga...dull, boring, uninspirational, preachy and condescending and humourless in manner. His garden is also uninspiring, at least at the moment - too formal, "samey" dark and there's no flow to it. Toby was let down by the production I think - he is a very good gardener.I love Carol, but can have too much of her "faux enthusiasm" I met her at Chelsea and she wasn't like that at all, very calm and knowledgeable. The garden in Brum "Greenacres" has apparently been turned back into a playing field. I'd like to see Chris Beardshaw in charge ( but that may be just me ) but as it's the only gardening programme we get, I'll just have to hope Moga gets fed up and moves on to something else, and watch it in the meantime for experts such as the dahlia man

The golden era of TV gardening for me was when it was presented from Clack's Farm with Arthur Billitt & Percy Thrower, in the 1970s. Guests presenters included Peter Seabrook, Geoffry Smith, Clay Jones and others.
I formed a firm friendship with the late Arthur Billitt around this time and used to visit Clack's Farm on filming days and met most of these celebs of the day.

It's years since I've heard 'Clacks Farm'!! Used to reet enjoy Arthur Billet & Percy. Around the same time there was a programme on our local ITV channel from Kings Heath Park in Birmingham, Gardening Today. Cyril Fletcher was on it, and they had some good gardeners and very practical advice for beginners and the more experienced gardener. Wonder why none of the other Channels have bothered to try and put together a factual gardening programme? Perhaps we should start a campaign x Tig

;D Right then if David is up for it we could surely manage a 20 minute programme - just need to get Ronymaxwell on board and find Plocket ;D What content would everyone like (and yes it would have to cover veggies, 'cos there is nothing better than picking produce from your own garden ) I reckon Ron could do roses and entertain the nation with fantasmagorical inventive joinery projects. Plocket would obviously share her love of clems. David what would you like to 'major' on? I'm orf to practice my 'enthusiastic grin' and polish me wellies x Tig

Sounds good.............but not too much veg pleeeeeeeeasssee!!!!!! You could fulfill the Charlie Dimmock role Tig - all tossed hair and waving bosoms Lol - that made me giggle - still at it since I read it....go on Tig - lets see you tossing your hair and waving your boobs about...... I'll fly over and help Rony with the roses - I can bring a few Engelsgesicht Roses over for VIP'S - FB and David can do the Sweetpeas - if Spru is about he can help there as well. Missy can do the baking - got to have refreshments, don't you know. I remember my dear old Dad and I watching Percy Thrower and I still have a little gardening book that my Dad gave me from Geoffrey Smith. Coo that is going back a few years. RF

Well, in another life I'm kinda pigeon holed with sweet peas, but would gladly relinquish that in favour of FB.
Put me down as your friendly fruit grower.

I can remember seeing all of the older tv progs that have been mentioned, they were great, interesting, informative, covered a wide spectrum of gardening and were presented well. I also recall ones that started to creep in that I called 'the quick fix garden progs' all they ever did was quick fixes, a bit of trellis here, a dab of paint on an old wall and bung a few plants in, nothing much about the actual plants and growing them. Thankfully they seem to have now disappeared from the main stream tv. I guess we all have our favourite programmes, and presenters, whether it be for their expertise or looks I just think it is a shame after all the work that went into the last series of GW that we won't see the garden grow so to speak Whilst I'm not really enthused by the content of new series so far I'm sure there will be something of interest at some time, well I hope so ;D
