I quite like Gardener's World. Monty is only OK but it's better than nothing. I can't believe his compost. Mine looks nothing like that. His looks like he's just had it delievered.

Well I am rather partial to Bob Flowerdew and his plait. Apparently his wife is not into gardening, so maybe I have a chance. He is into beer too. I was watching an old GW with Monty the other day. He was planting a Clematis. He said to plant it deeply in really poor soil. In fact, he said you could use spent compost from pots to fill in the hole. That's it he said, just let it get on with it. No mention of feeding at all which I found very strange.

A word about the Chelsea Flower Show. Toby Buckland will be making a BBC comeback by presenting RHS Chelsea Flower Show coverage later this month.
The former Gardeners’ World presenter, whose stint, which ended in 2010, averaged two million viewers a show, will front five red-button programmes featuring tours of this year’s show gardens and the Great Pavilion. He will also feature at Gardeners’ World Live in Birmingham on 15-19 June and is developing his own nursery.
James Alexander-Sinclair and Christine Walkden will explore the Great Pavilion for the BBC. Alan Titchmarsh, Joe Swift, Carol Klein, Rachel de Thame, Nicci Chapman, Chris Beardshaw and Andy Sturgeon will also present.

I'm looking forward to the Chelsea coverage and I'm glad Toby B's been given some presenting to do for it.

I've set my reminder and recorder to record BBC1 and 2 during the week so I don't miss the coverage. It'll be on the red button too but I like the structured programmes too.

Did anyone see the programme on BBC4 last night, ''how Britain became gardeners,'' in one part they were talking about the invention of compost in bags, and how it had made gardening open to lots of different people ie those without a garden, it then showed 2 ladies with cut glass accents who lived in flats with walkways at the front door, and one had a growbag with flowers growing in and she had put a little fence around it, and said''it makes it feel like a real garden'' ;D.
