Is that the Monty Don one Auricula, I saw the first one & will definitely give the others a watch, I wasn't expecting much, but I think Monty came across really well injecting a bit of reality, into people's unrealistic plans. Although if someone wants to spend £600 on a palm tree after being told that it's unsuitable for their conditions or soil they deserve all they get grix I've got GW on season record, so I know I don't have to rush to watch, wasn't until OH asked if I wanted to keep them that I realised I hadn't watched it since July, says it all really. Although my Mum who just wants a nice program, loves it now, she'd just be happy to watch Monty & Nigel, sorry but he can play with that dog all the time in my book, (I actually prefer him to Monty grix)

I enjoyed last night's too, thank goodness for i-player though, as it took me until last night for it to filter through to my little brain that it's on every night, not weekly

Some people are absolutely bruddy barking.

I quite agree Barbara, I quite liked the previous ones, a couple of idiots & a couple that took the ideas on board & got there in the end, not sure I was prepared for all 4 being totally barking.... I had to go & do the washing up in the end, too frustrating.

I'm still catching up with them but it's great to see any gardening programme I think. I really thought the man with the pond had a lovely vision of his garden and he was'nt going to let MD tell him what he could'nt do. winx I liked the Rose garden/cottage garden style that the lady and her Daughter did, glad they got rid of the grass, they ended up with so much plant space. smilx
Sad that this is the last Beechgrove this weekend. sax

Rubbish programme last night I thought, even Monty got my sympathy for having to deal with such daft ideas

I think you must be talking about on of the ones I missed Ladygardener, I'll have to catch it on the i-player. I know I had to walk out & do the washing up last night in frustration, but last nights did give us some laughs, as soon as we spotted the model village ones, both OH & I were reminded of an old saying of my Mum's, well they're not spoiling a good pair . Think the other lady had just been reading too many Alice Fowler books, yes you can eat weeds but you generally don't grow your crops in amongst them, I've a feeling she might do quite well in the end though, at least she had some genuine interest, think the other 2 just wanted to be on the telly.

I missed the one on Wednesday but have watched the other 3 and liked how Monty dealt with the people, he never used to come across as a people person, so perhaps he's mellowed a bit.
I watched the last Beechgrove of the season last night, I shall miss the team and the sound advice.

Just watched tonight's & then caught up with the one I missed on Tuesday on the i-player. I'm glad I left Tuesday's until the end, I loved both of the gardens, like Ladygardener, thought the guy with the pond was so lovely & the Rose/cottage garden was gorgeous.

I did have to laugh at the mum going to the GC and buying yet tons more Roses. She sounds like she's definately one of us.

I wonder if this new series will be repeated on a Sunday morning as well??
Looking forward to Beechgrove tomorrow - sad it will be the last one for this year - so much to learn from the programmes and Jim, that I always call Bill for some reason, is a lovely lovely man - he has more gardening knowledge in his little pinkie than I will ever have..

I thought last nights prog. was very good but, that was a small fortune for the Japanese garden, her hubby was a real trooper, and the other lady doing all that digging out herself wow.

I agree with you about Jim Rosefriend. Unfortunately I don't see the Big Dreams Small Spaces being repeated anywhere but it is available on demand. Barbara, I've not caught up with them all, I'm trying to save some for those dreary days of autumn/winter when it's cold and wet and dark outside lol. Gardeners Question Time was interesting this week, the man talking about navigating without a compass gave us some facinating facts. I never knew that no tree on the planet is completly symmetrical and that there is always more growth on the south side and those branches are always more horizontal while those on the north side tend to grow upwards!!

I found that out on a tv programme a few years ago Ladygardener, They navigated without a compass, across Bodmin Moor. It was very interesting. I enjoyed the earlier in the week programmes more than the more bonkers people in the later ones, but it was a good series and Monty was good.

Rosefriend, I've just been trying to find out when the other episodes are repeated for you. Episode 2 which is the one where Christine has tea at the Beth Chatto gardens is repeated Sunday 16th at 16.15hrs. It may be that each Sunday they will show 2 repeats and folk will get to see the whole series repeated over a number of Sundays.

Oh that sounds lovely Ladygardener, - I'll make a note and check up on UKTV - this coming Sunday isn't so marvellous really with Life in a Cottage which we have seen, then Great British Garden Revival and Countryfile which is Isle of Wight - we do enjoy watching that though...

Did anyone watch the 1st episode of Glorious Gardens From Above yesterday? It was in Cornwall and showed Trebah St. Michaels Mount and the Minach Theatre, there was less gardening than I thought there would be but those Hydrangea were fantastic. I did think that she was a bit over excited while looking at the Gunnera in Trebah. Todays episode is set in Essex and will show the Beth Chatto gardens and the RHS Hyde Hall.

I watched the Cornwall one this morning. Enjoyed seeing the Trebah gardens apart from Christine being stupid in the gunneras, the community garden bit didn't add much, and it would have been more interesting if they had shown more of the St Michaels Mount gardens than Christine abseiling and pocket planting on a rock face.

After my laptop died last week it has been a right mess getting a new one, - well, what I wanted - I don't need all the Schickimịcki - I have a PC that does that - I wanted one that did what I wanted...and also let me watch UKTV..
After a week I have one and for once Filmon is stable and wonderful to watch and I thoroughly enjoyed BBC2 this morning - had to go out with Countryfile as I was crying - my great Grandad was also there but I loved Trebah - I would love to walk around there....

Nice to see isabella again Rosefriend, Where was Christine this time? I kind of stopped watching it, I've still got the episodes taped 'tho. I can have Christine in small doses but her in a whole programme was a bit too much for me.
