True but in the leaves of the Lilly little others come by. Likewise in Asparagus. As for battling greenfly I have found that one need not do it as indeed the Ladybirds will do the job. Only thing to do is wipe the rose buds clean and leave some of the juice of the greenfly on so new ones stay clear.

Due to the PC and Laptop not being OK I couldn't see any UK TV at all. Was there anything interesting on Gardeners World and Beechgrove?? Wasn't there something about tomatoes on one of them?? When is Chelsea mostly??

They are doing toms in soil in the GH, Rosefriend , on Beechgrove, they said they do better, they didn't start putting them in as it was too hot inside. You can get the ''fact sheet' if you google Beechgrove .

Great Barbara, thanks - none of the toms interest me - they are F1's and Blight resistant varieties...will still be interested to see how they do... There is a lot less watering when toms are in the ground I suppose but I prefer the "power" I have over them in a container with fertilizers etc..

I've been catching up with Chelsea, I see that Rachel De Thame was interviewed and said she was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year and is finding solace in her garden. The healing power of even the smallest garden should'nt be underestimated.

The healing power of even the smallest garden should'nt be underestimated. My garden and my tomatoes plus the Tomato Festival which I damned to start with after I was diagnosed has been my saviour. It has made me get off my bum and get going and even on days when it was impossible to be outside I have always had enough to do.

Tonight would have clashed with the first night of the Proms, which the BBC obviously deem more important

It used to be that I could'nt wait to watch Gardeners World. Somehow nowadays, I do still watch it but maybe not until the middle of the following week. It does'nt have the same draw for me that it used to.

Well - the new copyright laws in the EU now mean I cannot watch Gardeners World and Beechgrove, or any UK TV - pissed off - yep!! EDIT: There are days that I just have to smile - a lousy start that I couldn't see Gardeners World - I will, no doubt, survive that. Btw was there anything good Dutchy, Barbara, Ladygardener, Auricula,?? Anyoldhow the VPN that I always used have been stopped as have many Freebie and even non-Freebie VPN streaming sites. I posted on the old site that I used to use and got a post to look in my messages... done - what a small world!! It was a German girl (girl - 63 as I am!!) that now lives in Turkey and came from my area, and we know a joint friend and she even gave me a link to another VPN and tips for another one - a paybe, but a good one!! I do moan about FB at times, think it is everyone's right but there are times that it makes for a wonderful day !!

Is Beechgrove back on yet? I watched GW on Friday. There's nothing new on there but just as plants go in and out of fashion so do ideas about what to plant and where. Monty is passionate about growing from seed too which is nice. It's good to see him standing in his characteristic pose...legs akimbo in flower beds. He is my favourite GW presenter now altho I loved Geoff Hamilton of course...
