She did the lily thing on GW last week as well Jas. I don't like Alys - I find her terribly false and irritating ( miserable old bat that I am!) The only tv "gardener" I dislike more than Alys is.......the insufferable Monty Don!! yuk

Aly has got her own TV programme coming up - think it is called 'the edible garden' I saw Carol this morning, but thought that the Breakfast presenters talked over her during most of the interview, laughing and interupting, very rood!

They were a bit ignorant but they probably left their gardeners busy in their own gardens this morning I've never seen Alys in action much on GW. I love Carol's gravelly voice though.

Whilst I mostly enjoyed last Friday's GW, the piece on the back gardens reminded me of the story of the three bears! Toby is the main star of the show so he must be Daddy Bear and thus gets the biggest area. Joe is the show's number two so get's Mummy Bear's medium allocation whilst poor Alys (aka Baby Bear) has to make do with what's left. i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/rolleyes.gif Also, am I the only one who thinks that Joe's plot should be called The Building Site Garden?

I recorded it and still haven't watched it! Would have thought that Alys could be Goldilocks Spru ;D I enjoyed her programme tonight, well most of it. The willow weaving reminded me of 4P The way she dealt with the chucks was hilarious, and so was the dog peeing in the border I'm going to try sowing some of my dried peas for pea shoots, that is a cheap alternative! Peatinis might not be quite so appealing, although I'll give anything a go once ... x Tig

I can't get that either LG I hope the Matthew Wilson programme is interesting and not just the melodrama of folk with landscaping OCD and the trials and tribulations of their lives Got a bit fed up with Alys last night - literally! I know it is called the 'edible' garden, but I would like more growing than cooking, as for her pigeon scarers one good breeze and they were gone x Tig

I agree with your fears about Matt W's programme Tig. Don't watch Alys - she just grates on me I'm afraid. Why can't they just stick to planning, cultivating, growing and picking ?? You can tell these "meeja" types don't garden!!!!!!!!! Off outside now it's warmed up

I agree about Alys Auricula, I do watch it though, as (evil woman that I am) I think it's so funny when her oh so trendy ideas go horribly wrong. My absolute favourite was her spending £130 on 1930s windows to build a greenhouse to hold one tomato plant, then the tomato got blight anyway Jillyx

No I couldn't - yuck at the thought!! I agree Barbara he is a bit of a faffer but I am enjoying this series much more than the last couple, they seem to have taken on board a lot of the criticisms and are just getting on with some basic gardening, more hints and tips, not so many stoopid camera shots or background music to distract from what the prog is about. I'm finding Carols plant family section interesting too and learning things.
Wasn't sure about the Matt Wilson programme, not a lot of helpful information in it, but I did admire the couples commitment to reshaping the landscape and trying to attract more visitors to their nursery.

I watched the Matthew Wilson thing and wont be watching it again - changing rooms in the garden no likey. That bloke with the great big garden and the bull dozer wants locking up, did he think he was up for an oscar with that performance Sorry I really thought it was rubbish. As for Gardeners World - dont even get me started bring back Alan ;D
