Every day a little better Spru. Glad to see you're on the up! House arrest is not great but this is the slower time of year and there are no temptations to exert yourself in the garden!! Men in stockings.... Now I could tell you a few stories there. ;D ;D

you will have to wash your stockings through every night, and dry them on the radiator, ;D because if I remember rightly, they were £18.00 a pair when FIL was ill.

Only just caught up with this thread.
Get Well Soon - it's not until we or someone close gets ill that we appreciate how we take good health for granted. Onwards & upwards, take it easy & you will get there.
Best Wishes
Jean x

Surgical stockings eh? what colour are they? They used to come in white or flesh colour. All very boring Missy - just plain white I'm afraid. In the house I wear them with summer shorts as they're more comfortable that way. ;D +++ Otherwise, thanks to everyone for your continued messages of support. Fatigue is the main problem at the moment hence my infrequent visits, but as things settle down I am hoping to be able to get back online a bit more often.

Just thought that I'd ask how you feeling now Spru... Much better I hope. ;D I was just wondering the same thing yesterday MRH, Hope you are well on the mend Spruance. Thanks to you both for asking, but unfortunately nothing much has changed. I ended up in hospital again on 1st January as my heart was racing and I felt light-headed and the paramedic didn't want to take any chances in view of my underlying condition. Whilst there I had a chest x-ray and the usual raft of tests which, as far as I know, revealed nothing out of the ordinary, although I was told that they would arrange for me to be kitted out with an ECG tape machine. Coincidentally I have just had the appointment in this morning's post for 22nd January so as usual there's no sense of urgency. Although I now feel more alert mentally, in contrast I am less physically mobile than I was last month. I saw my GP last Thursday to express my ongoing concerns and she has arranged for me to have an ultrasound scan of my stomach as she is 'interested in my pancreas' and also wants to try to establish why I ended up with clots in the first place. Oh, and she also signed me off work for yet another four weeks. Day to day I don't feel too bad although I am still getting some discomfort around my ribs for which I am advised to take painkillers as required. Pottering around the house is no problem but trying to walk much more than one hundred yards is a definite problem and on the whole probably not a good idea as when I have done this I have tended to feel worse the following day. On the plus side the need to have a daytime nap seems to have diminished. My main concern is that no-one seems to want, or be able, to tell me how I am progressing, which is hardly surprising as I have had nothing more than basic tests since first diagnosis. I realise that CT scans cost more than basic x-rays but it was only after having a CT scan that my pulmonary embolisms became apparent despite several previous x-rays. Surely it makes sense to have a follow-up scan? Likewise with the DVT in my right thigh. I told the doctor that I wanted to see a specialist and was prepared to pay to see one privately if necessary, but I suppose that I should at least wait until I have had the ultrasound stomach scan and the (48hour) ECG monitor tape, which will take me through to the last week in January. So, as you might imagine I am feeling rather fed up, but at least I have more time for GWD. ;D

Poor Spruance, you are having the times of it. I'm so sorry to hear of all your troubles, unfortunately it sometimes happens, that one thing follows another. I hope you get things sorted out and start to get some answers soon. Meanwhile be good to yourself and of course you can always plan your changes to the garden this year.

Thanks again everyone. At the moment I am starving as I have to have an ultrasound scan at 15:40 today and I can't eat anything for six hours before. Of course any other time that would be no problem at all, but it's knowing that I can't eat anything that makes matters worse.

Yes it's surprising what a treat it is to have 4 biscuits and a cup of coffee! All went well as far as the event itself was concerned although I feel a little comfortable from having to lie on my left side for a few minutes as that's something I normally try to avoid at the moment. On the plus side I was able to walk from the hospital entrance to the clinic and back without needing a wheelchair! That's the first time I've been able to do that since before I was ill. I'm told that the results will be passed onto my GP (as she requested the scan) and I should expect to hear within one week.

Sorry to drag this thread up from the depths again, but I have just been out in my own car for the first time in three months, and perhaps not surprisingly feel very pleased with myself. ;D Poop, Poop! ;D Granted I was only out for 20 minutes and it was just a bit uncomfortable but that is long enough to get me to work from home so that puts me another step closer towards getting back to work, which, all being well may be on Monday 2nd March.
