Finance & insurance are all arranged. Provided there's no major mishaps in the rest of today, we pick the car up tomorrow morning.

Well my new car is called F**k U ;D
We picked it up first thing this morning. Any concerns I had about having the smaller engine disappeared as soon as we drove away. It's a superb little car, in immaculate condition and although the pick-up is a little sluggish compared to the old car, it runs really well and when it gets to 30 - 40 mph, it really zips along. It's fair to say we are well chuffed with it already ;D

See, once you get used to it it really isn't that bad. I loved my lil corsa and it was able to cope with all the steep hills etc around here perfectly.
I hope you have many years happy motoring xxx

Thanks April. Let's hope so.
You're right Spru. I was stressing about it but thankfully, that's one thing less I now have to think about !

Just to kind of finish this thread off, here she is in all her glory. We've had the car for just over 2 weeks now and we've done the thick end of 200 miles in that time. So far, we've only used ½ a tank of petrol, which is pretty good. I have to say, it's a lovely car and so nice to drive compared to the old monster. It's as light as a feather on the steering and the gearbox is so easy it's untrue. Dunno what I was stressing about - the 1.2i engine is prefctly fine for pootling about in and when I go to and from Ipswich every day, it'll be really good on the fuel. FA x

Just found this thread. I have had my new car for a couple of months now - and it has taken me all that time to get used to it I had a sweet yellow Mini Cooper which was ideal for the narrow winding lanes of Cornwall, so what did I do...but trade it in for a BMW 3 series It's a lovely car, but suddenly the lanes seemed much narrower!!! Finally however I feel that I am handling it properly and not slowing down for each bend - HOORAH!!! ;D ;D

BMW 3 series very nice though, wouldn't say no to one. We get a new one today, Mitsubushi Warrior LWB 2006, I've not seem it yet but it's black and he tells me it has a dvd in the back, men and vehicles ;D we chopped in our old Mits as it was getting to be needing some money spending on it. You got your new one yet April ?

Next few days! Within a week anyway I hope. It's due into the country anytime now.
Just arranged the insurance to start from the 30th so it can be taxed and we've been down to sign the finance agreement today.

Have to say I'm still loving my little baby ! We've had it 5 weeks tomorrow, we filled it up with petrol on the day we bought it and we've only filled up once since then, which was last Saturday after 4 weeks. Even then, I could probably have done another 50 miles or so on what was left in it !

Seeing as Auricula said Birds and Sunshine it prompted me to share this with you. OH never looks after his vehicles, well for the first couple of weeks he does Bear in mind his new baby is black in colour. Well it got it's first wash weekend before last and he dusted it inside and it looked really nice. Mmmm except for the roof, that went all streaky as he hadn't dried it off. My neighbour and I took great delight in taking the micky out of him for not doing a proper job. The sunshine came out and the dried streaks looked dreadful. He was not amused ;D This weekend he got smart and got some special shampoo with added wax or something ;D Anyhow, job done and it looked fab again shiny all over even the roof, black vehicles do look especially nice when they are clean and shining, imo. The morning after we went to go out and low and behold there were 3 splatters, huge splatters of white bird poop all down one side. He was not amused, again ;D ;D Hope you two are keeping yours clean, FA and Auricula Wonder if April has got her new baby yet.

No - what are you getting Tig? Mine is black and is cleaned sporadically. However, we have noticed that after it has rained ( pretty often round here ) it looks really clean and not blotchy at all ( bl***y clever these German carmakers ). It is a really excellent car - now I've got used to driving it - we call him Beemey and he is our 3rd baby ( after the cats!! )

I'm getting a car Auricula - nothing flash - just a wheel at each corner, an engine and a steering wheel In Zircon Grey Metallic - smaller than what I have now, more fuel efficient and much less car tax!!

Interest rates are so low I decided 'what's the point in saving?' and my current car is rather large for someone who doesn't work and no longer drives long distances ... So I am waiting for delivery of my much smaller, more economical vehicle ... I thought they had fields full of the damn things - but I'm having to wait eight weeks for it I bet I don't get such a wizard number though, wonder if I could get TIG? ;D x Tig

Moving swiftly back on topic, would anyone be tempted to buy a new car if the government went ahead with a car scrapping scheme?
|
|
|
Post by Deleted on Apr 21, 2009 19:07:57 GMT
I possibly would Spru, depending on what sort of deal I could get on the new car and how "new" it would have to be. For example, my Corsa was less than 18 months old when purchased but was a little over half what a brand new one would have been. If I could've got £2000 for my old one and still bought the Corsa, I would've done but if they stipulated that it had to be a brand new car, then no, I probably wouldn't have.

Tig..I have a personalised number plate ( or vanity plate as my "friend" calls it ) My OH bought it for me for Xmas one year and it means you never forget your registration number ( a boon when you get to my age!!). I know it's a bit chavvy....but, what the heck??!! ;D
