I was sitting outside last evening around dusk and what did I see only the 2 little Bats coming out to play. They've pretty much hibernated all winter but they played for ages before they flew off. Seeing so much new growth in the garden yesterday when I got up close and personal in the borders. The wonderful scent of the Martinette Narcissi in the pots by the front door yesterday.

For weeks now I've been visited by one quite skinny female chaffinch. Yesterday evening I was sitting outside when she arrived with her little baby and started feeding her chewed up sunflower hearts from my feeder. Wonderful. Most years I'm visited by a Leaf Cutter Bee and this year is no different. Yesterday afternoon I saw it buzzing around the garden holding on to the green bit of leaf. I hurried for my camera but this was the best shot I could get when it stopped on one of the Rudbeckia for a break. You can just see the curve of the leaf underneath it if you look very hard.

No wonder that made you smile LG. Some things are just truly amazing - like being able to fly with a bit of leaf bigger than you and making a nest with only a beak and mashing up food for your chick with just a beak!

They popped back again yesterday. Hopefully now the little one knows where the sunflower hearts are, it will start feeding from there too.

The sight of my son being chased by my GD around the pub garden, my DIL being told by GD that she had to go down the slide first and having my family sitting around the table all together for dinner...only usually happens at Christmas. ;D

Three things? A greater spotted woodpecker that visited briefly, the sight (and smell) of the grass after OH managed to cut it all yesterday, and best of all, an open flower on Mrs Cholmondely, who has been munched by snails every year since I planted her 6 years ago. I'd forgotten what a lovely colour she is! i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/grin.gif

Yay, Julian won celebrity big brother, and I didn't vote despite wanting him to win ;D OH has worked his socks off to implement the 'lawn free zone', and I helped by moving turf and carting the wheelbarrow down the dingly dell. The sun shone all day, my solar lights are all twinkling away and the garden looks like a mini Blackpool Illuminations x Tig

It's been a while since anyone wrote on this thread and I was thinking that at this time of year with so much growth in the garden, we must be able to share a smile or two. This morning, quite early, before 6am anyhow. One of the adult Starlings who are regular visitors was feeding the baby Starling sitting on the trellis. The young one had his mouth open all the time and made lots of noise. Wonderful to see. Just seeing that the small Cosmos and some of the Tithonia I planted out are settling in well. Anticipating Ruth and family coming today for a short visit. Hope everyone has a good day.
