Great idea to bump this thread Ladygardener! 1. Sitting on one of my new, zingy lime green Adirondack chairs in the sunshine at 7 this morning. 2. Watching the sparrows whizzing in and out of their nest box, obviously busy feeding chicks! 3. Keeping on finding my lovely boys in corners busy with their revision...and no nagging involved!

Quite frankly I would rather have my fingernails removed without anaesthetic than have Tamsin 'Have I mentioned I now have a huge house and a very large garden' Whatsit round for Pimms! I've been waking up at around 5 every day Auricula, the birds have been singing loudly and it's so light now and sometimes I go back to sleep and sometimes I don't! I don't mind at this time of the year!

MY OH made me smile today, he helped me put an extra support in for one of the arches, then he decided to repair a slat in the cast iron bench seat, then he decided he might as well replace them all, then when he'd got them off he decided he should give the ironwork a coat of Hammerite - pillar box red - it is so fiddly it took him hours and he's covered in red splodges Not sure I like it red, but I can put up with it .... for now.

They are so lovely at times aren't they Tig, my OH did loads for me yesterday in the garden.Today we had to entertain his step Mum (& she does like a drink ) Poor OH hardly drinks much at all & he's now had to retire hurt & is fast asleep bless him My photo uploader isn't playing ball atm, but something that really did make me smile today, a couple of years ago Jasmine sent me a piece of her Japanese Iris & although it's been happy enough it's never flowered, but over the past week or so I've spotted a spike forming & it's come out today & it's absolutely gorgeous

Auricula if I'm still in bed after 6am I feel like I've slept in, it's fine in spring and summer when the mornings are light but horrible in winter. Still it's how I am, I like to have the lights out by 11pm. It's wonderful to see how many little birds visit so early in the morning. Jilly well done, hopefully pb will play ball and you'll get a pic on. Tig I really like the idea of a red seat, well done to your OH. It's cloudy again here this morning but no rain at least and it's not cold.

While I sat havng a brew this morning watching the birds feeding I couldn't believe what I saw.................there was a little mouse sat on the window ledge outside looking in at me I had great difficulty sitting still so as not to scare it while laughing my head off. It kept going a long the ledge backwards and forwards then stopping and looking in at me as if to say 'helloooooooo I'm here, can't you see me'

I bought two bunches of daffs yesterday in Aldi - they were in a box and all droopy, no water. I bunged them in a vase and this morning they are all upright and open. They won't last long but what a lovely lovely sight - spring really has sprung, at least in a vase!!

I had to smile today at my 4 year old GD..we were in Tesco as her Mum was looking for something that she could wear to a funeral...after trying on a few black dresses we turned around and GD was tottering along in a pair of black very high heeled shoes, a black hat and a black frothy scarf around her neck...she piped up..how about these Mummy? The store assistant burst out laughing and GD looked very serious and said 'whats she laughing at?'

Your GD has a bit of style does'nt she Missredhead . Good idea to bump this thread up, there's always something to make us smile if we look. I've seen a few adult birds feeding their young here in my garden lately, and don't get me started about when I see a new flower open.

Those baby Centranthus that I nurtured have all flowered outside my gate, and they make me smile every time I go in or out. I am well chuffed that they've all 'taken' in such shallow soil.

I love the little things that children say Jasmine. In may ways they're very wise 'tho are'nt they. Making me smile at the moment is the little Wren who flits around the garden on a regular basis. I don't often see a little Wren in my garden and it's a real joy to watch.

Little Man You’ve Had a Busy Day Little Man you’re crying I know why you’re blue Someone took you’re kiddy car away Time to go to sleep now Little man you’ve had a busy day. John has won your marbles Tell you what we’ll do Dad will get you knew ones right away Time you should be dreaming Little man you’ve had a busy day. You’ve been playing soldiers The battle has been won The enemy is out of sight Come along now soldier put away your gun The war is over for tonight Time you should be dreaming Time your day was through Can’t you hear the bugle softly say Time to go to sleep now Little man you’ve had a busy day.
My Mum used to sing this to my brother, I just found the words on a FB page.

Making me smile at the moment is seeing the birds gathering bits to build their nests. Sometimes I wonder how they can carry such large bits of branches. A cheeky Magpie came right down and started pulling apart a jute bag I have little sedums and other low growing plants growing in.

I sat and watched the resident Robin have a bath in ice cold water about 5pm yesterday. He sat and fluffed up his feathers for ages afterwards to dry them. Perhaps he knew he would'nt be able to do it this morning as it has frosted over. I'd only just went out this morning with hot water to defrost the various shallow saucers I leave sitting about and one of the Starlings landed down for a drink.
