I agree - a marvellous selection Chuckles - I have only got the normal pink self seed ones - all my attempts at growing them has failed miserably....

Thanks ladies, I was rather shocked at how many I had. The only one that is a known variety is Miss Huish which I grew from seed RF sent me about 3 yrs ago. That is the only one I've planted. I've pulled up loads over the 30 years we've lived here, we all know they self seed like silly things and can become a pain. They must have cross pollunated that many times because there never were so many different shapes and shades.

I thought we had an aquilegia thread! Last year Jilly sent me some milk and honey seeds and nothing came of the carefully nurtured first lot so I threw the left overs in a tub and they've spent the winter outside annd now I have one tiny little seedling! Did you end up with any Jilly?

Mine are all in pots at the moment as bunnies just love aquilegia so I've got to think carefully about where to put them.

It's amazing isn't it. I guess the highs make up for the lows...says the person who's had one Grumpy bulb munched clean away.

I noticed yesterday that some of mine have put little leaves up not sure which they are though but they could be Chocolate Soldier as they are only small ones and they are in a window box.

If I recall Carolann the leaves on Chocolate Soldier are a bit different to the standard leaves, smaller and sort of more delicate. I'm hopeful that one I have in a pot is a Chocolate Soldier

These ones are Chocolate Soldiers Auricula, but they are all gorgeous. Carolann, I think I may have lost one or 2 in the border over winter, but I have got a container full that haven't been planted out yet. If you have lost yours, let me know & I'll return a few back home i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/wink.gif Jillyx
