I have one growing in a pot, by mistake! I took it out as it was in a place where it didn't get enough sun, and then forgot about it. It hasn't died despite being very neglected, but it is a 'dwarf' compared with its relatives who have been planted in the ground. I tend to treat mine as 'foliage' plants as they are not in flower for that long really, or at least mine aren't. They are just about to break into flower now and as each flower only lasts a day I reckon they are back to being clumps of green leaves within a month - or is this just mine?

As Dutchy has said somewhere else on the board, when she was here we went to a Fair/Open gardens and I bought 3 Day lilies. A larger one and 2 smaller ones which are scented and doubles....gorgeous.
I ask the bloke that was selling them, and I later found out that he is a Day Lily specialist, about my Day Lily that hasn't flowered and he said that the older varieties lose flower power after some years and they should be split and moved etc. However he said that the new varieties are far better being left in the ground for years as a) they can cope well with it and b) they look far better as a clump than a small bit of plant with just one or two flowers...
Mmmh - if that is the case then I will find a place for them where they can stay for a longer time I think.

Mine have been in full flower for a couple of weeks ( late this year as we had a spell of low sunshine levels) I'll let you know when they stop flowering, but they usually carry on into the autumn I think

I will have to find a spot for them in open ground, I think. Very good service from the supplier, www.applecourt.com/productbrowse.aspx?catid=571 , who rang me up because I had made a mistake in my order. The 'Biggie' wasn't a daylily, it was a hosta, and because my other choices were all daylillies, they rang up to check. Who else would bother to do that? I'm impressed, and I left it to them to substitute a tall, purple one of their choice. I'll wait and see what I get. Delivery promised for Tuesday.

I've made a little wish list Rony! ;D I agree with you though Barbara - PInk Damask has come out and it is quite an orangey salmon sort of pink - not sure it looks right where it is.
