Yeah, glad Rahul won I hope that next year they ditch the "super daft" tasks and get back to more basic mainstream baking. I thought Kim Joy was nailed on to win when I saw the showstopper brief, but she cocked it up and made ginger cake again to boot Ruby and her sister are beautiful ( and her Mum looks great too ) I think Ruby may be another Candice and appear on tv shows for other than her baking I really enjoyed this series but they should have a more mainstream year in 2019 methinks

Just a note, there's a programme on Sunday 11th November called "They Shall Not Grow Old." I've seen how they made it and it looks wonderful but very very sad. All about WW1 of course.

We watched a documentary last night Ladygardener, it was about the trenches, one man stood next to his best friend turned to speak to someone, looked back and his friend was dead shot through the head, a lady who received the letter telling her fiancé was dead didn't believe it for years, she thought he would come home soon, it was so sad to listen to those old men.

Aw yes Barbara, it is really sad and all these testaments bring home the reality of it all. The programme on Sunday features real black and white recordings that have been made over to add colour and help get rid of the jerkiness the old film had. I'm sure that it will be very moving, I only saw a bit of it and it made everything so real.

I know, it was brutal was'nt it Barbara. It was certainly a no holes barred film but it really brought it home what those poor soldiers had to deal with.

Has anyone been watching Kevin Mc Cloud presenting House of the year? The houses are outstanding.

I've seen a couple Ladygardener, I couldn't live in those huge glass boxes though, I always watch grand designs.

Even 'tho some of the houses are in the middle of nowhere, I'd still like some kind of blind to come down in the evenings Barbara. It amazes me the lengths some folk go to in order to build their homes. Some of them would be very difficult to live in. One of the recent ones I watched had spiral staircases in every room, I could'nt manage all those stairs now never mind in a few years time! I like Grand Designs as well.

And the cost of some of them Ladygardener, that's why they cant afford blinds.

Pleased with the house that won House of the Year, it actually looked like somewhere you could live instead of resembling a warehouse

Did anyone watch the programme about the posh hotel in London last night ? dear me how the other half live eh, £20,000 a night to stay in some of the rooms, then the ''ambulance'' later on, it seems to me most people are either on drugs or are permanently drunk, what a waste of NHS resources.

I was half tempted to watch the last episode but thought I'd missed too many to catch up with the plot. Who turned out to be the goodies Barbara? Did the young actress survive?

Yes she did Tig , and gave the Israelis all the info on the bombers, who were led by Fathima the sister of the bomb maker, airplanes went in and bombed the hideouts in the Palestinian desert, it ended with her going to Germany to be with Gedi.

I've recorded Agatha as well and will watch it when Jenny and the girls go home after they leave me back. We watched one of the Marvel movies last night. The girls have just really started to watch them although I've pretty much seen all of them at one stage or another.

Never heard of those Ladygardener, but then I'm not a film - watcher. Watched Upstart Crow, Great Xmas Bake Off ( during the night when I couldn't sleep ) and a pre recorded Poirot with a glass or two of wine. All were excellent
