It's good to get stuck into a film Barbara, hope you find some you like. I might end up doing something similar now that Dancing With The Stars Ireland and Dancing on Ice are finished. There's always midsommer murders but I record it and watch it later without the adverts. I'm watching Chicago med, fire and pd at the moment.

I've been watching Perception with Eric McCormack, that's been quite good and not too violent. A lot of the US crime dramas show a bloody body but not the violence of the crime, even though they can be tense at times. I like all the NCIS franchises, but nobody beats Gibbs

Anybody catch the new documentary series on channel 4 about the valley of the kings and ancient Egypt? The first one was last night and I really enjoyed it. Too often these type of shows are patronising and sensationalistic...with silly 'recreations' making wild guesses about the subject that most folk find quite fascinating. Made a refreshing change.

I've been a bit disillusioned over the years by silly docudrama type nonsense, you can always tell it's going to be rubbish when they start calling Tutankhamun 'king Tut' I long for the days when John Roma would explain everything so eloquently...

Tig, I've watched a couple of series of Perception, it was good and I enjoyed it. I like it when people use their skills to work out who the baddie is. I agree, nobody beats Gibbs. I've recently finished watching series 1 of Jack Ryan, it was excellent and both sides of argument could be seen. I watched it on Amazon Prime which I have. There's a series called Gone on 5USA I'm recording. Is anyone watching it?

There's a series called Gone on 5USA I'm recording. Is anyone watching it? I've watched it LG, it started off a bit tense because it covered child abductions, a parents worst nightmare. It's OK though, always ends well - or at least so far. I gave up watching the historical 'documentary' series because they didn't tell me anything new or were full of computer generated graphics of fiction rather than facts. I will see if it gets repeated anywhere Cheerypeabrain, or watch the next episode if I spot it's on.

Line of Duty is back this evening. I expect we'll record it and watch it all when it's finished. We do that with most things now as the old memory sometimes can't cope with waiting for a week between episodes

We'll be doing the same Auricula, been spoiled by Netflix and Amazon and couldn't watch a series from one week to another if I tried. We're doing a re watch of the first 4 seasons too, to remind ourselves of the little things that you have to keep an eye on from series to series. We've watched up to half way through series 2 of Discovery Cheerypeabrain, and we're just waiting for the last few episodes of series 2 to arrive on Netflix so we can watch them all together, wasn't sure about it during the first series, but really enjoying this one.

Me too Auricula Jilly,. You are absolutely right about Netflix and Amazon, Jenny and I are the same, waiting for a whole week for the next episode drives me nuts. I do have a couple of exceptions 'tho.

Not sure where to put these so I'm putting them on the telly thread! I really enjoyed the CTM tour and I now want to be a tour 'midwife'. I think the ladies are volunteer guides who have been offered a very special post! This is HMS Cavalier - the last remaining destroyer that served during WWII. It is used for every ship they need in CTM and was the ship where we saw that little girl being shipped back to Somalia so she could undergo FGM like her mother had done and it was the ship used for the scenes with the 15 year old girl whose father had taken her on his ship to keep the crew entertained and she didn't know she was pregnant. A midwife costume. These houses were used for the outside scenes of the baby Susan story. Susan and her family were meant to live in one of the houses but the inside scenes were all shot wherever they do most of the inside scenes. This is where Alec fell and received injuries that he died of on the way to hospital. It was also used for the boxing scene where the dad thought the mother was turning their little boy into a 'sissy' and wanted him to 'man up' and it was Mr Wang's Chinese Laundry as well and was used in the scene where the mother runs through the laundry to get help for her pregnant daughter who she has kept shut in with the gas fire on and the daughter falls unconscious due to carbon monoxide poisoning. Our 'midwife' told us that Alec wasn't meant to be killed off at all but at the end of series 2 it was ages before the actors were told there was funding for series 3 so Jessica Raine had signed up to do a play and then a few days later they confirmed series 3. She could only do 4 episodes so they had to come up with a way she could 'disappear' and that was Alec falling and then dying of his injuries.

Oops, ran out of data - got them now! Barbara's wedding dress. Part of the sitting room at Nonnatus house One of the nun's costumes - the colour was much richer and brighter for the real Nonnatan nuns' habits but the colour wouldn't have worked on telly so they had to change it a bit.
