I've been leaving loads of extra food out for the birds this weather. It's interesting to see how clever some of them are. The little Robin comes and goes a few times and eats what he wants before the Starlings arrive. The Mistle Thrush and blackbirds come early to feed on the ground and the Blue Tits and the Chaffinch come and go all day to eat from the seed feeder only they can reach. Fat balls are available for everyone all day every day. I've been sitting here this afternoon thinking about things I should have bought and have'nt. Jenny Pat and the girls will be here tomorrow evening I'm happy to say. They'll only be here a couple of nights but it will be so good to have them here on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/smiley.gif

I was reading somewhere about 2 cats who had to have surgery to remove tinsel from their little tummies. Seems it's really dangerous if they chew and eat it. Just thought I'd mention it to fellow cat lovers.

We had the nicest Carol Service I've ever had in our church this morning! One of our members is an expert in old Somerset dialect and history, and he told us about Christmas traditions of long ago instead of a sermon. Some of the carols were old ones too - local ones - as well as the traditional familiar ones. I read 'Christmas' by John Betjeman. An unusual, but quite delightful service. I really enjoyed it! i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/smiley.gif

I need to make another dozen mince pies this morning, and tie ribbons on the hyacinth baskets, then we'll pack the car and (try) to drive off to our daughter's! Happy Christmas to you all. I'm taking my Ipad, but I don't know if I'll be able to log on until we get back on 27th.

The presents are on the floor in the lounge at the moment... exactly where they would be if the tree was there, just the tree isn't there lol The cats have got plenty of toys already! And yes, tinsel can be dangerous if they eat it (same as any cotton/string) as their gag reflex tries to bring it back up and their guts try to pull it through. Not pleasant at all All the tinsel on our tree in previous years has been at the top with garland type thing further down (and no baubles cos they've already pulled them all off...!)

The Christmas service sounds very special Geranium. We will go to the Crib Service tonight at the church linked with the boys old Primary School. They act out the Christmas story and they have a real donkey! I wasn't sure the boys would still want to go but they do!

You'll all be pleased to know: the tree us 'up' (i.e. I got the 3ft pre decorated pre lit one out of its box and brought it downstairs... but it doesn't light up any more). The decorations are all attached to the actual tree so no worrying about finding baubles all year ;D

I've not tracked Santa on NORAD at all today I must be ill or something cos this really isn't like me lol I'm usually giving the hubby a running commentary on where Santa's up to! Looking forward to seeing hubby's face tomorrow when he opens his presents. Bought him a toblerone but wrapped it up so he can't tell what it is, and some other stuff he's mentioned over the past few months but won't suspect I've got him.

We missed not seeing the GKids faces on Skype as Papa was trying out his Christmas presents which was some new software!!! However they told us exactly what they had got and wished for and half of it I have never heard of, but they were happy... Mama is working this morning (nurse) but a good day will be had I bet..
We had a lovely Christmas Eve, beef was done to perfection...now for the turkey....
Merry Christmas everyone...hope Santa has brought loads of lovely things!!

Hope everyone has had a less adventurous day than Auricula! Everyone is busy with new prezzies - the boys are on the PS3, Blue is destroying her new bone and I am enjoying a cup of tea and a sit down!
