They had real trees for sale in B&Q the other days. They were in pots but wrapped up with netting, supposedly growing. They had real trees in Homebase too LG. Quite nice shaped potted ones - goodness knows how much they were though.

Some of the poinsettias at our Homebase are already in the reduced section Pam Poor chap, may the op and chemo be completely successful. My Dad had a long gruelling op for his cancer and 3 years later he is the picture of health so there is hope.

Thankyou LG My Grandson (11) is football mad - a Chelsea supporter- I have ordered him an away shirt for Christmas with his name on - boy are they expensive I know he will love it ;D When our 3 sons were growing up we were lucky - one was into sport, one music and the other used to take encyclopedias to read in bed so buying presents for them was interesting We didn't have much money (still haven't and I used to pay so much a week in the sports shop in the run up to Christmas for Tim's Liverpool football kit ;D

I'm going to a charity coffee morning today, where there will be a stall. I'm hoping to get a few pressies there. OH has decided he'd like to carry on with having 'The New Scientist' magazine, which our daughter gave him on subscription last year, so I'll get that for him. He's sooooo difficult to buy for! i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/rolleyes.gif

I bought some Christmas cards in Sainsburys - they're so cute - they're for children I take at school!

When I was up in the loft room the other day I found 3 packs of Christmas cards not opened so I won't be buying any this year. i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/cool.gif I saw a snowman up on top of a balcony today when I was on my way to the shops. The shopping centre has all it's trees up now and the shops are full of bits and bobs. I bought a silver card line with little silver clothes pegs to attach your cards with.

I think that the UK and Germany ought to take a leaf out of their book....no Xmas until 1st December at the earliest...!!!
Out shopping today and a) there was a kid screaming it's head off as Mum wouldn't buy her a chocolate Santa. I smiled at her and asked if Mum wouldn't do what she wanted - it normally shuts them up and they nod. She just carried on screaming - had a look on her face that made me want to strangle her...thank heavens I didn't have to take her home with me... It must be difficult for Mum's with all the Christmas chocolate around the tills but I never screamed like that....my Mum said No and that was that. Plus it wasn't "I want" it was "Please may I have"....getting old obviously!!
...and b) advent exhibitions at the Farm shop. Ok some lovely stuff but the prices - do people really pay 37.90Euro for a wreath for the door - it was real but all it had was a bit of spray snow on it and was attached to a polystyrene ring....madness!!
We can ban it all totally for me!!
