I've written about a third of my Christmas cards. I found it really hard to get going with them despite burning a Christmas candle and carols playing

Just have one outside? Have a decorated, sprayed branch? Buy a cylindrical one and hope it grows on you? Don't have one this year? Drink enough wine and you won't notice anyway ;D ;D

We've had several cards, but I haven't had the heart to open them yet. I've got nowhere to hang them, anyway. No Christmas tree this year - the first time ever. I'd love a small one, but there really isn't any room. Even the floors up here (and the spare bed) are covered in boxes of 'things'. i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/rolleyes.gif

This year I have noticed friends and neighbours have not bothered too much with trees or decorations myself included
By now most of the houses would have something lit up in the garden and as always I blame it on the early start in August to "buy early for Christmas" = just fed up with it all now

Not much up around here yet, I blame the recession. Who can afford the electricity needed to power Santa's sleigh et al for hours on end for a month? ;D Got some cards displayed ( or I'd lose them ) but don't put up anything else until after no1 son's birthday. Bought all the pressies except for nearest and dearest - like to keep some things back so we can go shopping right up to Xmas Eve ;D OH will wrap the things to be posted today. All the cards have been posted. Now I just have to make the cake See - it's possible to be organised and unrushed, even if you don't give anything a thought until December 1st If you don't work, that is

You can get, Xmas tree shaped, pine scented air fresheners for cars - one of those would do

I was reminiscing tonight about Christmas works do's! I remember vividly the first one I ever went to. I was an office junior for a firm of solicitors in Torbay and we went to a very exclusive hotel in Torquay. The senior partners all attended and bought everyone a drink before we were seated. I was only 16 and my 'tipple' up until then had been scrumpy! Not very sophisticated eh? ;D The girl who had been promoted, hence my appointment, was called Louise, and she was like a model. Tall, slim, tanned and dark haired which was long with a bit that was knotted on top of her head (oh the fashions of the day!) Anyway she requested a Dubonnet and lemonade on the rocks. I'd never heard of it, but when asked I requested the same and got one! Wooo hooo! Anyway we were seated in order of seniority around the tables. The food was extravagant to say the least, and there were bottles of vintage wine to be shared amongst us all. Needless to say by the end of the lunch I was completely squiffy and felt sick The following year we went to a more local hotel, and I had cream of asparagus soup, another first for me. Loved it and have ever since. I didn't get intoxicated, was more professional and duly got promoted. I've been to a lot of Xmas do's over the years, some fun, some not! But remembering my excitement at my first one I always felt it important that the junior team members enjoyed themselves and saw me with my hair down. Sod being professional - I never wanted to be Prime Minister anyway ;D Anyone else got tales to tell? x Tig

I only have to hear Slade's Merry Christmas and I'm transported back to Uni at Christmas time and memories of Malibu and coke are also involved! Our Student Union building had a sort of hanging gallery and in the 4 years I was there it became unsafe and only X amount of peple were allowed upstairs at one time. The bar was up there so it all had to be brought downstairs! Why are our memories so full of alcohol! ;D

Christmas parties / meals never figured highly for the staff in schools I worked in, just for the children My most vivid - and absolute BEST, Christmas memory was having No1 son, in Cambridge Maternity Hospital, the week before Christmas. I had to stay in hospital because of complications and my bed was next to the "day room". It was 1973, Slade were no1 and it seemed to be on Radio 1 non stop ;D Everytime I hear it, I get goosebumps and lovely memories and I can still picture the ward decorations and tree . I came home, with baby, on Christmas Eve and OH had decorated the sitting room.......the silver tree from Woolworths never looked so good ;D I'd love to be back at that stage of my life, but, hey ho, I have memories
