I'm going to start a new garden thread in a minute, but I just had to pop this on here. Jillyx It's so beautiful Jilly and a wonder to see with all the horrible weather we've had. Marvellous Jilly - it is so nice to see something pretty growing... RF

It's a pity we don't have smelly vision here on our new board, well who knows, maybe one day. I thought I'd share my prepared Hyacinth that I grew over the winter. They're giving a wonderful but not overpowering scent.

Couple of spring things from me... My rescued Pallida is doing well despite unwanted pruning by boinging border collies! G. John Grey and Violet The Czar.

Jasmine they're just lovely. The snowdrops look so pure don't they. Do the Violets smell? I've never seen live ones before, nobody that I know has grown them.

Thank you Ladygardener. They are so white aren't they? John Grey has certainly done well in that spot. I think I only started with 1 a few years ago! I'm not sure if the violet smells, I remember getting the seeds after a recommendation that the flowers were a good size to make a posy. This is the first time they've flowered...I have some spare if you have a little space. I could pop one in with your bulbs when I send them!

Jasmine do I remember you buying John Grey off the internet a while back? They're obviously very happy where they are and taking tips from the bunnies and multiplying. I've quickly had a little google of the Violet and I can't see any reason why I've never seen it over here. I'd love some if you have a litle to spare. It does say they're richly scented, I've often wondered if they smell like the parma violet sweets.

I think I got John Grey from a seller on Ebay Ladygardener a couple of years ago. I have a little violet plant in a small pot which I will send to you with the bulbs. They get bigger by sending out runners so are easy to keep small if you want. I was reading an article on a violet farm in Dorset or Devon and there are Parma Violet plants - they have to be kept warmer and dryer than ordinary violets.

I love John Grey Jasmine, such lovely plump flowers & they must increase well, if you've only had them a couple of years. I've got violets out atm, my neighbour gave me a clump years ago.... just be careful, I now pull up a bin bag full every year. I think mine are just the common (what they call Dog Violets) but they spread like wild fire.

I'll be delighted with them and look forward to giving them a go. If they provide a bit of ground cover that's ok too.
