Blooming marvellous Andy, well done you! Hope you are getting plenty of visitors to enjoy all your efforts, and give some positive feedback on how it's all looking As we came home from the hospital today there was a stunning magnolia stellata that had been 'pruned' as a tree with a flat top, looked oriental in shape and form, very attractive though x Tig

Don't know how I missed this first time round, it looks wonderful, you must be so pleased after the long wait for the pump to be fixed.

Well...the pump went on, and then went off again. Apparently, a few hundred people have emailed the powers that be and complained that we are running the waterfall from a large bore hosepipe during the ban. So...just to please the moronic minority, it's now switched off indefinately.

Oh Andy , from someone who knows the moronic minority you have to put up with Jillyx

Is the water not recycled Andy? I wouldn't have thought it needed much topping up once it was running ... I'd be inclined to tell the moronic minority that it is self feeding and any additional water it requires comes from a rainwater butt - shall we start an online petition to get it switched back on again?

Ahhhhhh! What frustration! People just don't think about how things really work!
Your garden is so beautiful.

Things are really coming along and the Gunnera will be incredible this year.....
I'd love to see the area where the hostas are planted in a month or so - I bet it will be really full and still the stones will be dominant.
The wild flower garden (think that was it) seems to be doing well and those tulips are great!!

The next phase in the garden is to remove the Cercidyphyllum japonicum in pic 7 and the Chamaecyparis, obtusa nana gracilis in pic 8.
We just felt that that were far too big for their situation and when removed, we will replace with 2 trees of a better habbit somewhere in the garden.
The newly planted herbaceous bank in pic 11 will have around 3,000 tulips planted in the autumn to give some colour before the herbaceous comes up.
We've also applied for a large grant in order to get the pond cleaned out and revamped, the paths re-laid to give the garden better wheelchair and disabled access to the lower garden and the whole southern entrance completely cleared and replanted.
We're hoping to get the chalet done up too so we can have running mains water, a tool shed and i can have an office.

Andy,
So much work! I was worrying about the work of planting 50 bulbs in my garden this fall and you are talking 3000! Your back must ache at times with all that leaning and digging. It's easy to enjoy the lovely garden, and sometimes we don't think about the countless hours it takes to make it that way! Thank you for making the world more beautiful.

Yeah they are Jilly.....they've all done so well apart from the hollyhocks which have rust. The Chinese lanters have spread everywhere so if you want some !!!!! Grown a load more herbaceous this year which is up the nursery growing at the moment. That's only the tulips Bobbiek....ive ordered about 12,000 bulbs in all ranging from Daffs to Camassia to anemone to iris to allium. Last year we planted about 5,000 mixed bulbs and the year before we put in 25,000 bluebells !!!!!!!!

Took the camera to work today as the garden is an absolute riot of colours. Unfortunately, the batteries ran out after 20 pics so this is part 1. Part 2 tomorrow folks i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/wink.gif For some reason, my camera...only 5 months old is not picking up some of the colours and they aren't showing the true tones. Anyway, enjoy. Lovely Kolkwitzia amabilis My cottage garden...all grown from seed last spring in my conservatory Verbascum from the above border Poppy "dwarf allegro" Poppy "coral reef" Digitalis "candy mountain"....The flowers all point upwards !!! Geranium "johnsons blue" White alium of some description...could even be a wild garlic but it don't arf look good with the rock roses Yellow Helianthemum Red one Pink one Tangerine flavoured one Orange mecanopsis poppy Aqualegia "sunshine" again grown from seed Finally, some dutch iris looking fab.
