Were those new plantings LG? I have wondered sometimes if bulbs have been imported from countries with slightly different growing seasons to ours so they become a bit 'confused'. Lovely to see, makes the promise of spring seem nearer

Yes Tig I think they're part of about 100 new ones I planted back in September but they could also be a couple that Jasmine sent me a few years back which were early flowering. Chuckles thanks very much for the nom. It does seem strange to see it flowering now.

Amazing LG, I've noticed bulbs poking through but in flower is amazing I'm pleased that Chuckles gave a vote - I could have sworn I had already given it one.... Bit early, but it is lovely to think it could be Spring already !!

It could be Rijnveld's Early Ladygardener...and given the unusual weather it has come out early cundecided It should be out in January really if it is one of the ones I sent you. I love daffodils!

Thanks for the noms Rosefriend, Jasmine. I remember having the Rijnveld's Early in pots at one stage and I planted out a lot of bulbs that I'd had in pots back in September, October but can't remember exactly where I put them. It's lovely to see it regardless and it's Mother Nature not me who brought it on. A little taste of what's to come. It's pointing North 'tho which means I can only see the back of it from where I sit outside.

My car needs a wash! I've seen a lot worse than that believe me. Clematis Chantilly is lovely, it's ment to bloom spring to summer is'nt it. Funny how some things are so out of sync is'nt it.

What a lovely surprise your little Daff is Ladygardener, I'd give it a nom too, but it doesn't need one csmile. My pink clem is still in full flower too Jasmine, in fact I've still got Penstemon & Salias out.

It's very odd isn't it Ladygardener and Jilly, but a cheery sight at this time of the year. Chantilly was great in the summer so I was surprised to see fat buds on it again - some of my clems have the odd flower on but Chantilly has gone into overdrive!

Jasmine, Just enjoy it while it's there then. It'll be interesting to see over the next few months what else we can get a pic of.

This is a very interesting thread Yes it's quite reassuring to know that some of our little plants/flowers are not alone when they bloom out of season.

I was over the lane with a friend yesterday, and she showed me a clematis in full bloom - not a winter-flowering one; it has purple flowers, a bit like 'The President', but smaller. Apparently it had flowered in the summer, they'd cut it back and up it came again looking amazing! I couldn't believe my eyes - at the end of December, looking like summer. I'd like to know what it is. They don't know.

What a lovely winter pic Jasmine,. I was out yesterday cutting back Nasturtiums as they were hiding some emerging bulbs nyshocked, mind you I think the frosts the last couple of mornings might finally finish a few things off.

Thanks Jilly. I love these hard frost, blue sky winter mornings (not if you have to drive anywhere early though) but my geranium which has survived so far as it is right by the house looked very sorry for itself this morning.

Thanks for the nom Rosefriend, I was just thinking the same thing! Those buds are in clear view of the kitchen window and the stem is about 2m long - right over the path. I know the buds won't come to anything but they have cheered my morning tea making during the holiday!

I wish Clematis Fond Memories flowered this reliably in the summer this is the second or 3rd year in a row when she decides mid winter is the best time to flower.
