This is the odd fruit I found on my morning walk today. It was screaming blue murder. I had to walk back home, get some food and drive back to catch it. Our other cats are not impressed, they have left home. It is very vocal, but not feral, it is too used to hands and people to be one of the local population of them. Not sexed it yet, nor named it.

What a sweetie and what a softie you are owdboggy, well done you....now then, what is the plan to get your other cats back and appease them, a totally different problem...as you well know they will make you pay - hahahaha!! She/he/it looks like a cat I had in the UK - thought it was a dog actually and went "walkies" with the my landlord and his dog each day!! Anyway she (Leila) was adorable and went to a lovely family when I came to this side of the water... So - what does SWIAR say about this new addition to the household?? RF

It survived the night with both of them in with it. Used one of their beds as a litter tray which is not good. Eating now they have gone out. Not looked for gender signs yet. It is very timid.

I take it there were no other kittens around - even dead ones owdboggy,?? Not really surprising that it is timid - if it has run away or been dumped the poor thing is probably frightened to death and traumatized.. How are things today?? RF

Me and the gamekeeper searched the hedgerow and found nothing. So we assume that either there was only one, or the mother led the others away and this one got left behind. Bill has spent the day asleep in his usual place, under the cover o the settee, ignoring the kitten completely. Ben has been outside all day , as usual, except for a brief incursion for food. Kitten has fed and then used the litter tray, so hope there. Having food now after sleeping all afternoon.

owdboggy, it's great to hear that Kitten has used the litter tray and had some food. Seems like he/she is settling in well and has been used to folk before. Hope Bill and Ben don't give him/her a hard time.

We may not be able to keep it. The trouble is that Bill has to have special food as he has a kidney problem. the kitten fills up with it and then cannot eat the food it needs for proper development. Also Bill will eat the kittens food if it is not put away smartly. In which case our middle daughter would have the kitten.

Oh that's a shame owdboggy, but good that your middle daughter will have it - what is it anyway - she or him?? Bill and Ben will be happier, that's for sure!! RF

Still not sure of the sex. We are trying to put Bill and Ben's food out of reach of the kitten for the moment. Stopping Bill eating its food is more difficult. It will just have to do without food at night. We keep the cats in all night as we have lost ones before to foxes or badgers etc.

It is a lot friendlier with us now and seems to prefer company, so whenever we sit down it immediately comes and climbs all over us. Still refusing to use the litter tray, even with fresh material in it. It is now locked in the kitchen as it was indicating that it needed to go to the toilet this morning. Still not gone though and it has been in there for three hours. Ben hisses and growls and hits it (no claws though). Bill runs away still. He really ought to clobber it one and put it in its place.

It's gorgeous owdboggy, but why still an "it"...? As far as getting clobbered I have no doubt that the hierarchy will be sorted at some point...blimey 3 hours waiting to have a pee... RF

That picture made me smile owdboggy, . Hopefully it'll get trained soon, I thought it had already used the litter tray. I remember taking Suki to the Vet to get neutered and at the reception I gave all the details as being a female cat. The Vet was not impressed with me and said "This is quite obviously a male cat"! We'd had him 3 months or so at the time.

IT will get a name a. When we find out its sex and b. when we decide on permanency of residence. It did use the tray once, right at the beginning, but has steadfastly refused to go in it ever since. Even used one of the cats sleeping basket this morning. At the moment it is attacking a Christmas Cactus and shouting at me.

We think it is female so the name is Jemma (short for Jemima Puddleduck as she keeps on making puddles) Still not using the litter tray except when you catch her in the act and put her in it. Last night she must have chased Ben off the chair and then she used it as a toilet. Boss is not happy about it at all. Also found tape worm in the droppings so we have had to go to the Vets and buy some Kitten worming stuff. At least I got the tablet in her with no trouble. We are going to try locking her in the kitchen with the litter tray and a basket at night and leave Bill and Ben locked in the rest of the house. They do not seem to need to go to the toilet in the night these days. Killing the Door stop.

Jemma sounds appropriate owdboggy, kittens are so playful are'nt they. Sounds like a good plan, locking her in the kitchen, perhaps she'll get the message.

Well, she really is a sweetie and an Amazon I reckon - she knows what she wants anyway...just hope she learns the necessary cat etiquette soon!! Not surprising that she has worms I suppose - when will you get her jabs done?
Jemima Puddleduck aka Jemma - - good OB - lovely name!!

Well, putting her in the kitchen and them in the rest of the downstairs seemed to work. Though, it is possible that one of them sprayed in the living room, smelt a bit of cat in there this morning. Jemma was very pleased to see us this morning after spending the night all on her own, but at least she used the litter tray. She is asleep now on the chair behind me. Bill is asleep on the chair on the other side of the table from her. I just wish she would not bite his legs when he comes in to feed.
