Things are a bit better with her and Ben, but she still chases poor Bill. Instead of ignoring her, which is what Ben does, he runs away, so of course she joins in the game. Disposable cat?

She is running wild this morning. She seems to do that when we have been out for the day. Poor Bill is getting very stressed by her attacking him. He sat cuddled up to me last night so I could protect him from her. Not easy, she is as fast as lightning. She is up on to him and off again before either of us can move. Still not decided whether we are going to keep her after she has been neutered.

Perhaps she'll calm down a bit when she's been neutered. Poor Bill

Just as bad. She attacks poor Bill constantly. We have to lock her in the kitchen when he is trying to sleep. We tried putting her in the Dining room, but she just dug up the carpet by the door. No decision about her future yet. She will be neutered sometime in the middle of February, then we will see. It may well be that she will be turned into a 'barn cat' ie she will live permanently outdoors with a warm secure sleeping place made for her in the sheds.

She was neutered today. 10 days before the stitches come out. She really hates the collar and Bill and Ben are terrified of her in it.

Oh that brings back memories of many moons ago when I took my cat in to be done... I wonder what kind of cat she will become - will she stay the Maverick that she is or will she kowtow...it will be interesting to watch owdboggy!!

Bill and Ben are utterly terrified of Jemma with the collar on. They refuse to come in even for food and it is pouring with rain. She has had to have a harness on as she can get the collar off otherwise. For some reason she wants to stand in the water bowl and empty it out all over the floor. She can drink as we have seen her doing it. Not a happy cat today! We are hoping that once she can go out she will be a lot less wild in the house and leave poor Bill alone, otherwise she will have to be re-homed. He is a nervous wreck.

Best described as 'fraught'. She is not really eating as much as she should, but she refuses to partake of anything, even treats. She still frightens the other two so they are not happy. She is also very 'cling'. Every time one of us sits down she comes and sits on us,something she did not do before. Tried her without the collar, but she immediately began licking the stitches so we had to put it back on.

It's brilliant that she will come and sit on you owdboggy. theinsidegardener has a new kitten and she'd just love for her to sit on her lap. She's too skittish, do you have any tips? She will eat when she really needs to I'm sure owdboggy. You're right to keep the collar on, they all hate it but it's necessary.

The whole procedure could have flung her back to having been chucked out...she won't have forgotten that - she is unsure of herself. Those collars are hated by all animals I think - my cat and dog both went mad with them..got really nasty but they hadn't been through what Jemma has.
I think Bill and Ben will always be frightened of her - they have accepted being bullied - they need to lash out....as I say it will be interesting to see what happens when her hormones have calmed down..

Sorry, no. We have friends who would have loved their cats to sit on them, but they have only just started and they are old cats now. Ben has only just begun to sit on me and I think that is only because I am between him and the chair rather than any desire for company. Bill, now has always been a lap cat. Difficult for me in that I cannot sit still for very long without extreme pain, so the animal gets disturbed and gets off in disgust. All I can suggest is patience and sitting still!

owdboggy, thanks for your input anyhow. At present she can now get herself onto her lap but jumps right off again, perhaps in time....

Jemma has had the last of the stitches removed this morning. She had a major accident in the carrier on the way there and had to be virtually bathed when she got there before they could get to the last remaining stitch. She is now very subdued, but that won;t last. She is not licking the scar, yet, so if that carries on we will be able to let her go walkies outside.

Can I really go out? Well here goes nothing. A giant leap for cat kind. What are you doing out here? This is my part of the world, now go in! Jemma came in then and has not tried outside again.........There is always tomorrow.

Jemma has been outside most of the last few days. She is still a bit timid, especially when next doors cat is around, or when traffic goes past. She is better when one of us is out there with her. She did catch her first mouse though.

Ben does, Bill rarely catches anything. She played with this one for ages then left it lying. I think the magpies finished it off for her.

Magpies will eat pretty much anything. We have a couple who last year and again this year have built their nest over by the elderberry bushes and they terrorise all the other birds while defending their territory.
