I read today that the reason for the lower level 'celebs' is down to the Beeb cutting costs. Evidently they all get a guaranteed £25,000, which goes up by another £15,000 if they last until week 6. The maximum fee for the winner is £100,000, however it also said that Shirley got a £70,000 increase in her fee as head judge, not sure she was worth that increase on top of her original premium!

Oooooooooooooo that's a lot of money for sitting watching people dance, and then making comments isn't it.

That's a shame about Neil Jasmine, I thought he'd get a partner this year. No there's no way I'd apply, too much sitting around for the show and all that queuing, I would'nt be able for it. Excellent Barbara, then we'll find out who is partnered with who. I've put a note on my calendar. Interesting Tig, £40 for a couple of months work is'nt bad is it.

I wouldn't apply either Ladygardener - I just can't be doing with queuing or being herded about! They're all star spangled salaries when you look at folk who work really hard!

I don't think having a ticket gets you in automatically anyway, I think it's about whose at the front of the queue, I couldn't be doing with being herded either .

I think you're right Barbara, imagine queuing for hours and the person in front of you being the last person in

I'm sure they did Barbara. No I would'nt like being herded about and not being guaranteed a seat after all that queuing! I'd be gutted.

So, what do folk think of the pairings? Lots of opinions on FB!!!
I think they've done a good job although it would be interesting one year for Anton to have a potential winner and see what happened then!

Ha ha Jasmine, I doubt that would ever happen. I was very excited to see the launch show and I think on the whole the pairings are pretty good. Already you can see who's got rhythm and should do well but of course it's anybody's guess at this stage. I did think that Kate Silverton came across as very enthusiastic. I can't wait for the show to start proper. Next week they're doing a one off special about previous contestants or winners, that should be good too. From one year to the next I often forget people who have been in the shows. I've not been on DS yet but will pop over today if I get a chance. I always like to hear what folk are saying about the dancers. Does anyone have a favourite yet?

I'd heard that Ladygardener, will have a read of your link later - hope Brendan has been a good boy! I thought the same about Anton - I think the BBC have a real game plan and Anton being paired with a potential winner is not part of it!

Ah we all watched Mamma Mia 1 in the summertime, even the boys enjoyed it and the girls know all the songs. They've been to see Mamma Mia 2 in the cinema but I've not seen it. Did you enjoy it Jasmine? I've heard it's a bit sad.

Should have a good idea of who's got potential and who has no rhythm tonight, although I think the first dance is a always a challenge for most who are less confident dancers.

Didn't see last night's show but FB is full of posts about Anton and Susannah - what happened?

Hmmm, well in my opinion Anton puts comedic value (or playing the fool) before performance, and I think that is detrimental to the person who has to dance with him! If he had someone who really was a good dancer I doubt he would choreograph a routine which showed off their talents to the best of their ability.
I'm not judging anyone on their first performance this year, I think some dances are harder to master and do well than others, and some of them will be more capable in delivering on the genre they get in the first week. I've ignored the judges comments as I think they are less relevant at this stage but at least Bruno wasn't quite as manic as he usually is.

We really enjoyed the show for the most part. Some people were much better than I expected them to be and others not so impressive. I do wish Anton would stop his silly carry on and teach a few steps without all the so called comedy, I was embarrassed looking at it.

Don't think I've ever seen so many good dancers in week 2.
Glad about the result - next week will be interesting!

I've not watched the result show but was suprised to see Lee in the bottom 2, I thought he was quite good but he was middle of the score board so that might have been part of the reason. I was delighted Susannah and Anton were in the bottom 2 'tho. She never ever looked to me like she was enjoying any part of the strictly experience.
The standard this year is smashing, some very very good dancers and some folk who seem very very nervous still.
